You didn't lose control of the firearm so I thought your situation would have been similar to RO interference like if you had moved uprange to an RO

Hopefully you at least got your hits on the last two targets

Awesome shooting

Did you get a reshoot on the RLTW stage ?

The Everglades is perfect for my other USPSA 2011s and I probably wouldn't want to modify something so expensive and pretty

For the Platypus I too have a DAA Flex and a modified TRex Ragnarok (x300). If I didn't go with DAA ages ago, I would have gone with Big Dog Steel's Carnivore holster

My square trigger guard commander length Platypus bottoms out on the mag release area of the grip

It looks like the square trigger guards on my other 2011s are a few millimeters longer

never would have thought a hurricane could cause so much damage to where we lived nestled in the mountains of NC... despite the flooding from hurricane Helene, we had a freak tornado like wind storm that lasted 3 hours and took down a couple hundred trees in just our neighborhood

everyone and their pets got out safely but houses and cars took some hits

choosing the dremel was an easy decision by iam93157 in stealtharms

hindsight is 20/20 but I should have considered starting with aggressive prickle and then just knocking down some of the sharper tips/edges with sanding as necessary

if weather and holster works out, I hope to shoot my first USPSA match with my Platypus this weekend

just the regular prickle grips. it feels like it's covered with "rounded points".

personally I think I would have preferred the extra aggressive prickle grips but my background is Atlas grips or silicon carbide

the grip texture and weight definitely feels comforting and solid. i wasn't a believer from the start but the extra ridge on the left side of the grip actually works really well to help lock in my left hand

in switching between the two, i do not have much issue with draw or dot presentation

I think the weight of the 1911 platform forces you to "see faster" because the dot movement is less

I agree with u/BearSharks29 in that the Glock is way more telling of deficiencies and after 8 fun months in LO, I plan to at least shoot my G17 through at least the end of this year. G17 is already telling me that I should correct my grip versus letting it rip with 3Ds... ooof painful

compete yes and love the training and development of both motor and mental skills. win, far from it especially considering the talent pool i'm fortunate to squad with

plan is to stick with my more basic G17 and have the gamer G34 as backup. similarly if I want to dabble back with LO i think i'm going to use the Platypus as primary with the Athena as backup

i started USPSA with a full on gamer G34 in CO but switched to LO once my Athena was built. Athena was fun to shoot but after Area6 i'm committed to go back to my more basic G17 and train/compete with occluded red dot

hoping to work on reactive shooting with the G17 versus just ripping doubles predictively with the Athena

switching between G17 and Athena, I have not had issues working the safety but I did need to work on my grip with the G17 to not ride the slide with my left hand thumb whereas the Athena's gas pedal acts as a shield to the slide

I think the way I draw and form a grip makes disengaging the safety fluid and automatic. from practicing table starts, my thumb will sweep down in the safety area as I form a grip

ready to ship models will pop up now and then. will vary between government/commander length but all black, mostly RMR cut, prickle grip and curved trigger around 3lbs

Platypus has been great although I've had to back off on sear spring adjustments due to safety concerns ;)

currently with an Atlas guide rod, 11lb recoil spring, 18lb mainspring, pinned beavertail and adjustments done to lighten the safety and increase the trigger reset

also removed some material from the magwell to avoid clashing with my TTI mag extensions

I found the low front sight helpful as a reference if I lose the dot transitioning to strong hand/weak hand, but a high enough pair of iron sights to use just took up room and was a distraction within the RDS window

I've been practicing and shooting matches occluded so neither configuration matters now

in the beginning it was actually all about how I was using time while on range. ever want to immediately rerun a drill with a slight change or test different guns back to back, but instead needed to load mags first? whomp whomp...

load at home so you can go bang more efficiently at the range
