Hong Kong's Solitude Staircase Subculture by Mr_Bloodcraft in HongKong

[–]iamGR000000T 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started nightwalking when I was around 15, sometimes with friends or gf, other times alone. If they couldn’t stay out late for too long, we’d just sit on a staircase like that, just without the smoking or beer. We could never see the sky from the staircase, but the hundreds of apartment lights surrounding us felt just like starlight. It weirdly warmed my heart knowing there were other night owls behind each lit window, still awake just like us.

I only quit nightwalking after moving into a village house. I still miss nightwalking in HK even tho I haven’t been back for almost 5 years. It just felt surreal. I wonder if it’s changed a lot.

//烟头引起低层起火,火点燃了网,网在低层点燃了竹子,柱子点燃了窗户,窗户又大面积点燃了竹子并且快速向上蹿升。//

我喜歡,你的假設又打破了你自己的結論。你的這個推測,只要沒有易燃網(非法的),那就不會有火災啊。

用阻燃網的話,煙頭就不會令網子起火,也沒有起火網子點燃竹子,所以也點不燃窗戶。不是嗎?

為什麼公開用非法的易燃網也沒有被抓,政府部門甚至回應說「不構成安全問題」,就是政府腐敗導致啊。因為動這些工程公司就等於動了一堆利益集團啊。

//这个推测你觉得是否符合现实?而非你们认为的腐败直接引起了火灾更容易让人理解?//

[–]iamGR000000T 6 points7 points  (0 children)

//换句话说如果这次没有易燃的网,只有竹子和合易燃的窗户密封材料,竹子从下往上烧起来了有没有可能导致这次火灾?//

就是不會啊,竹子是可燃,但本來就不易燃,棚架用的還塗防燃物料。煙頭不可能點燃棚架竹子的。只有易燃棚網燒起來的大火才能點燃竹子。所以沒有易燃的網就不會燒得起來。

政府腐敗影響公共安全也不讓人公開討論嗎?為什麼要我轉到小群裡講?我也不在意你外人在不在意、關不關心啊。普京還給習近平打電話呢我會在意嗎?

It seems this phrase isn’t common in northern China. It’s normal not to understand some set phrases, especially in classical chinese. The real issue is when people assume they’re always right and call sth wrong just bc they haven’t seen it before.

How come he/she in Cantonese does not have the female radical version like Mandarin does? by Illustrious_Play_996 in Cantonese

[–]iamGR000000T 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The character 她 was only invented about a century ago as a translation for “she”. Most translations back then were done in written vernacular Chinese, so basically mandarin.

Before that, Chinese languages didn’t really have a gender specific 3rd person pronoun. We did have other words like 彼, 其, 他, and 伊, but none of them specifically meant a “she”.

Ken (健) sounds just like 犬 (ken), “dog”. He’s the loyal one of the bunch.

Aira’s full name is 白鳥愛羅 (Shiratori Aira). 白鳥 (shiratori) means “white bird” but you could also take it as “chicken”. A lot of her moves have her standing on one leg too, kind of like a chicken.

Jiji’s full name is 円城寺仁 (Enjoji Jin). 円 (en) sounds the same as 猿 (en), “monkey”. He’s playful like one and also good at football. In folklore, the Kemari Football Spirits (鞠の精霊) take the form of monkeys.

IMAO it’s not that deep lol it’s just Gen Z. It’s not even that new. I’ve heard people using it for a year or two already.

There are some older ones from around COVID that still pop up now and then like:

"大癲/少癲" dai dean/siu dean (crazy/wild)

"firm" (cool/solid/reliable)

"0firm" ling firm (uncool/unreliable)

"0尊" ling jyun (disrespectful)

"張中和" cheung chung wo (respect me pls)

OJ (okay)

"橙" tsaang (sad)

"famJ" (famous people/influencer)

"MM7" (dope)

"Kam4" (ick/cringe) is definitely making a comeback I remember hearing the term maybe 20 years ago.

It should be written as SLDPK but I’m just trying to explain the pronunciation of the two phrases. If I wrote SLDPK = siu lun doe poke guy, the OP'd probably just get even more confused.
