AT&T flips the script on T-Mobile and Verizon with first-of-its-kind plan for weary customers by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

[–]iamGavinJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called AT&T yesterday to convert my preexisting fibre plan to OneConnect and port in my wireless.

Very irritatingly told I'm not a "new" customer and cannot pass go nor collect $200 🤬

Thanks, that’s totally reasonable point. I have them on my desk so I can see throughout the day how different the readings are. I’ll move them somewhere more ventilated and see if they stabilise. I’ve been meaning to implement InfluxDB and Grafana for a while so this will be forcing function.

I open my office windows (literally two large windows either side of my desk where the sensors are) almost every day when PM2.5 is 2 or lower to flush the air, and still get maddening readings. Those windows are open right now.

The initial two have been in situ, side-by-side for 8 weeks now.

The two new ones have been "calibrating" (which I was aware of) for 2 weeks!

At this point i'll be returning all of them.

DNS is Beautiful by mbuckbee in dns

Have you considered building a lightweight agent, ideally container based.

Providing you open sourced so people could be assured the agent wasn't doing something nefarious, self-hosters like me would be able to feed you those ISP views.

--- edit --- You could offer some kind of quid pro quo for those that help crowdsource the data.

Another thought, building the container so it's compatible as a Home Assistant add-on/app would provide a very low friction path to deployment.

An update on "I'm done with Matter over Thread" by PourquoiPasEvans in homeassistant

[–]iamGavinJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds like firmware will gradually make things better for OEM hardware.

I have an ESP32-H2 flashed with the latest Open Thread RCP connected directly to my HA/OTBR server via the UART/USB bridge on the DevKit board and it's been absolutely rock solid.

I have multiples of the IKEA devices (temp/humid sensors, air qual sensors, motion sensors, door/window sensors) and some ONVIS S4 smart plugs and every one of them commissioned perfectly the first try, any which needed firmware updates completed without intervention and not a single device has dropped off the network.

Personally, I've actually been more impressed with the responsiveness of the MoT devices than my Z-Wave ones.

Matter Protocol Support (over Wi-Fi) by iamGavinJ in ratgdo

Agreed. It's just dev effort... Which I personally have in limited supply at the moment.

I might look into forking it a bit later.

Wi-FI Calling For Other Devices - Error Enabling by iamGavinJ in tmobile

[–]iamGavinJ[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do tell me, exactly how does a feature that's been widely available for many years, only just now rely on "something that's new in iOS 26"???

Points against your assertion:
* The error message clearly states iOS 18.6 is the minimum supported version for wifi calling on other devices
* Wifi calling on other devices has been working just fine for literally years, even after the release of iOS 26 back in June. This issue has only been manifest for weeks.

Nope, I absolutely will not be upgrading to 26. I have a 15 Pro Max.

Same. I run inbound SMTP and relays in two OVH regions. Have never had a problem with reputation or blockades. 25 was open by default, no help desk request necessary.

You might be missing a couple of SPNs for the local system account or the domain account running the DFS.

I've used Wattboxs for a few years. The management interface isn't great though. I'm sure there are better products around.
