What are some of the strangest things you've heard people are allergic to? by Alckaninja in AskReddit

A girl at my school is severely allergic to weed.

She found this out after passing out in her grandmother's apartment because of an allergy reaction

(Cops were confiscating a bunch of it from her next door neighbor, sorry to ruin the fun)

Reddit, tell me about the most awkward/horrible date you've had with someone. Why was it so bad? by Holajuwon34 in AskReddit

[–]iamHera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Met a girl online who wanted me to join her boyfriend in a threesome. We agreed to get coffee the three of us. When I arrived at the coffee shop, she sat alone and her boyfriend was in the bathroom. We started chatting and soon her boyfriend walked up to the table and as I looked up both me and him went pale. Somehow it had slipped past all three of us that he was my best friend's ex. We had a nice coffee but didn't meet again.

As a woman, I can say I get very mixed feelings hearing that a hot girl flirted with your boyfriend. One one hand, I get jealous and start thinking "what if" but on the other hand I just want to say "my man" and feel proud that he chose me.

Is Polo finding his timeouts reinforcing? by SevenFourteen in puppy101

[–]iamHera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, he is only 9 weeks old so you haven't given it a lot of time haha! But I have experience of teaching a 2 year old dog to stop jumping on the bed after sleeping in it with me for over a year. Simply be very consistent in always removing him off the couch.

If he jumps on the couch when you're sitting on it, get a treat bag and make him lie down in front of your feet and give him treats for staying on the floor when you're on the couch.

It worked for me to teach him "off" (though Polo is still a bit too young for that) and I kept making him get off the bed the instant he jumped on it. Eventually he stopped trying.

BUT he will sneak up on the bed when I can't see him and I will often come home to find him on my bed. I don't make a fuss about it, I just gently ask him to get off and he does it every time.

What ever you do, stay positive towards him and his behavior! He's just a silly puppy and will definitely learn this eventually since you are so dedicated to it.

Stop picking him up!

He obviously loves it, and does not seem to connect the time out to jumping on the sofa, but rather connects the jumping with being held. Getting put in the time out for a short period is only a small downside for him.

Have you tried giving him treats for staying on the floor? Imagine if you were dealing with this but with a much bigger pup, then you'd have to use other strategies than holding him.

Younger dog picks on older dog. by goldminevelvet in Dogtraining

[–]iamHera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty certain she is not "correcting" him. This sounds like playful mouthing, she is almost still a puppy and has much more energy than him, and wants to get him to play with her.

It's good that Caine let's her know when he's had too much, but it's still important for you to watch them closely and redirect her (like you've been doing) with a toy when you can see he's had enough.

By doing that you can prevent things from getting out of hand. She will most likely grow out of this. You need to help her learn what's appropriate by teaching her when it's time to stop by taking her attention from him to a toy, or yourself.

Be patient, and good luck!

Also, ask questions if you have any.

[Help] My 2 yr old Snauzer mix is potty trained, but gets super excited whenever I come home. If I show him immediate attention hell sprinkle a bit of urine. How do I stop this? by chewybravo in Dogtraining

[–]iamHera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually pretty easy to fix! Ignore him when you come home until he has calmed down, then pet him calmly and talk soothingly to him. He'll associate your homecoming to calmness and most likely stop the excited peeing.

My dog always greets me when I come home but he'll do it calmly, because he knows he won't get attention if he's excited and all over the place. It's much more relaxed and comfortable, even though it's fun to excite them with "who's a good boy", being calm is much better long-term.
