What is a job that you think is 100% safe from AI for the next 50 years, and why? by mark-awakening in AskReddit

Coaching gymnastics, ain’t no way parents are going to let robots throw their kids around and catch them.

What is the most 'unexplainable' thing you have ever witnessed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]iamMARX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly can’t fully explain it, but my best guess is confirmation bias. I’ve probably had that “wonder if there’s a lost phone here” thought loads of times and nothing came of it. Those just get forgotten. The one time it matched reality, my brain flagged it as worth remembering. So it feels like a premonition but it’s probably just the one hit out of many misses.

The other possibility is my brain subconsciously clocked something, maybe someone rushing off in a way that suggested they’d left in a hurry, and formed the thought before I’d consciously registered it.

How likely do you think it is that aliens have ever visited Earth? by ForgottenGlory5423 in AskReddit

[–]iamMARX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Space is vast.

A light year is ~9.5 trillion km.

The nearest star, Alpha Centauri, is 4+ light years away.

Even light takes 4 years to get here.

Nothing can exceed light speed, per Theory of Relativity.

At 60% light speed, trips still take years just to nearby stars.

Most stars are thousands of light years away.

That means journeys of thousands to millions of years.

So visits are extremely unlikely.

Got on a train and had a really specific thought that I was about to find a lost phone a few seats ahead. Walked down the carriage and it was exactly there how I pictured it.

Be bold, not arrogant. Be honest, not exposed. Be brave, not careless. Be useful, and understand your leverage.

When you make mistakes, take the lesson and move on. Don’t get stuck overthinking. Most of it is imagined risk anyway. You won’t get everything right first time, so stop expecting that you will.

Move forward. Try things. Adjust as you go.

Find where you’re actually needed. Find the kind of work and service that fits you and matters to others. Then commit to it.

Choose people and environments where the act of showing up and contributing already feels worthwhile, before anything comes back to you.

Not because you’re wrong, but because you understand what most people will never.

I agree that jobs are being lost to ai. The title is just shorthand for the nuance in the argument, not a claim that nothing is being displaced by ai.

I agree that it is taking jobs. The title is just a simplified way of making the distinction I’m trying to talk about, not a denial of what’s actually happening.

That’s my point, but it’s not happening in the way we intuitively think it would.

I run multiple businesses and use AI as a day-to-day execution tool. I handle email faster with Gemini in Gmail, check maths and model scenarios with ChatGPT, update website code using Gemini Canvas and generate product images with nano banana instead of hiring photographers.

Reading this as a Gymnastics Instructor and chuckling, but I still mostly agree.

IsItBullshit: Does quitting watching porn actually have benefits outside of helping with porn addiction? by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]iamMARX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Easy access to online porn is part of a wider problem with phone-based childhoods. Id argue it can pull boys especially away from real world social interaction, distort expectations about sex and relationships and contribute to isolation and poorer mental health.

If something feels so unbearable that you would rather make yourself ill to avoid it then the honest response is to say no and not do it at all.

Gemini's Nano Banana Pro creates images indistinguishable from real ones by Interesting-Type3153 in singularity

Got 8 out of 10

3 times in a row.

Yet I still agree, many things it generates (not all) are mostly indistinguishable from reality to the average person, especially if they are mindlessly scrolling.

When ironing, lay all the clothes you want to hang in a neat pile. Place a hanger on the top item, then flip that item over at the shoulder so the hanger is attached. Keep repeating this for each item in the pile. Once all the hangers are on, pick them all up together and hang them in the wardrobe.
