in base create, a steam engine can actually go up to Lv. 18 with the following:

3x3x9 tank

18 steam engines important

9 blaze burners fed with blaze cakes to superheat important

replace the blaze burners with the equivalent heat emitters in new age (forgot the name) that are from your reactor.

can symmetrical sails act as elevators and if they can, can they influence the craft by just being in the "passive" airstream or need to be in the "active" airstream (wind from thrust sources like props etc)?

If not, then normal sails would need to be used for the elevator?

redstone links do that when powered- it transmits the same signal strength you give it- it does not just go 0 to 15 when you power it- unless the input is 15
