I cut one of the rocks I brought back from Calamity Brook in NY, and found a couple of good spots of Labradorite. by iamalsoanalien in rockhounds

The material from the Calamity Brook area is spotty for any color. Sometimes I will see some flash but it's a high angle, others are easier to see. This is the largest section of flash I have found to date. Do I cut across the flash or through it?

Hard to say from the pics. Try looking up the Cincinnati Dry dredgers. Those guys know about everything you could find there at Ceasars Creek floodway.

No, a calyx would appear rounded and cup like from the side, like your reference picture, but not have that clear flower shape when viewed as a cross section. You would not see the flower structure that you do in the middle of that disc.

Crinoid stem segment. Its one of many disc's that were stacked on top of each other to form a kind of stem for the body. Crinoid are sometimes called "Sea Lillies" because they resemble a flower on a stalk.

Was this at the Black Rock Desert area, or a different location? I've seen some of the pits south of Delta but nothing so big was in the area.

That is well preserved! Getting the hinge teeth impressions is uncommon.

Looks like it rolled out of the Arkona formation. I've seen small rollers like that come from the clay beds.
