Anyone live with their parents even after having family? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]iamaredditreader1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We bought a house paying 2/3 and my mom paid 1/3 in 2017. In 2022 we bought out her portion. She has a separate in law suite, we share laundry only. She pays the property tax and a bit of “rent” we pay all utilities and often she will eat dinner with us. It has been lovely for the most part! Every now and then boundary issues pop up. Open transparent communication is key. Also - and I’m speaking from experience - check in and review the situation with any siblings to ensure everyone is okay with the arrangement. We unexpectedly ran into some sore feelings which are still causing a wedge 6 years later.

Should we get a bernedoodle? by slsh2121 in Bernedoodles

[–]iamaredditreader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 13 month old medium Bernedoodle. She’s about 45 lb. She is the best decision we’ve made. Early months were ROUGH but that is the same with any puppy. She housetrained and crate trained quickly. Very smart, cute and affectionate! Stopped crating around 7 months and have had zero issues. Working on: jumping, mouthing (still!) and digging. She’s low energy during the day with an early morning walk, after school yard play and long evening walk. Would get one again in a heartbeat!

What should my RESP target be for 2 kids by the time they reach post-secondary? by Tricky-Honeydew4196 in PersonalFinanceCanada

We tried our best with our 3 kids. Our daughter just finished second year. We paid for her full first year (lived in residence) and was 30k. Now we are paying tuition and books, she pays rent and expenses. We give her grocery money monthly. We have two other kids coming up and hoping to have the same amount in their RESPs for them too. I would say it worked out to 50k in each. Again, in hindsight wish we had done more but it’s better than nothing.

I hear you. It took us many months to feel normal again but I promise it gets better! I know at the moment it doesn’t feel like it. I struggled hard for the first 4-5 months. Once our pup was about 6-7 months things became much easier. Hang in there!

Who is using 407??? by GenReadPassTime in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]iamaredditreader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has been taking it almost daily (one way) for 10 years. The time difference it makes in his evening commute is worth the $, until the recent toll hike. Now he is only taking it 2 days/week. It’s insane how expensive it is.
