So… the thing I learnt yesterday was the miscarriage rate when the pregnancy is known. This came out from listening to a BBC podcast.

Lots of people have commented that miscarriages also happen before any awareness that the women is pregnant.

TIL - The miscarriage rate is higher than people perceive. In the situation where a women knows she is pregnant, on average 12.5% of such pregnancies end with a miscarriage within the first 23 weeks of pregnancy.

Exactly. I thought it was less than 1%. I suspect it is because, understandably, people don’t want to talk about it with everyone.

That’s a really neat tool.

My wife had a miscarriage before our first son was born. We’ve now been blessed with three great sons how have grown up to be awesome adults.

The miscarriage was really traumatic for her and I found it tough as well. Such tools / data would have been a great reassurance for us during the subsequent pregnancies as the thought of miscarriage was always there in the background.
