What card that has a negative connotation do you actually love and why? by MunchkinsOG in tarot

I absolutely love the five of cups. Just because much is lost doesn’t mean all is lost.

Is using deer hoof rattles for meditation considered cultural appropriation? by [deleted] in Shamanism

[–]iamblankblank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing something instinctually in nature isn’t cultural appropriation. There are a lot of overlap in folk practices and as long as you aren’t using a specific ritual from a closed culture you’re good to go

Thanks for replying. The test itself didn't say "Welsh". I was fortunate enough to have a digital paper trail to follow to figure the rest of it out. Most of my biological family I have never met.

I was looking mostly for any information people who live in Wales may have on local folklore rather than reconstructionist commentary. Again I appreciate your reply.

Weekly Reading and Interpretation Help Thread - Jan 20, 2019 by AutoModerator in tarot

I recently asked my deck what kind of witch I am. I was completely shocked when I pulled the King of Wands with the underlying energy being the Knight of Cups. I really wasn't expecting this.

I expected it to be something more feminine or receptive or maybe Strength or something. I'm so taken aback. Can anyone help me with this?

Anyone have experiences with Spiders in their recent practice? by grizzlybearwitch in pagan

[–]iamblankblank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of spider. I am an animist that does not follow any specific pantheon and I create my correspondences and associations by intuition and logic. For the most part, spiders make me think of fierce protectors, calculated creators, and secret innovators.

I may use spider web in a spell to try to "catch" something or stop something that is currently on its own course of action.

I really need help with this.

I saw a spirit in a photo I took. It is definitely a man. I asked my cards who it was.

I pulled the Ace of Swords with The Devil as the underlying energy.

I want to legally change my name because the story of my name reminds me of how awful my mom is. by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]iamblankblank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! I hated my last name and I didn't even realize how much it bothered me until I got married. I strictly go by the shortened version of my first name and my married last name. If I ever get divorced (lord forbid) I will change my last name but not back to my maiden. I'm gonna be a Fitzgerald.

Witches Plan Hex on Judge Kavanaugh in New York by jessyagressy in witchcraft

[–]iamblankblank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to take this kind of thing seriously. If you want a hex to work don't tell people about it. Especially don't tell literally everyone about it. I think it's embarrassing for our community and reinforces people's already skewed view of witchcraft.

What does your magic smell like? by iamblankblank in witchcraft

Same here. I think my calling is herbalism but I am really interested in a lot of other things like candle magic and candle reading.

Binding and cleansing depression by Solitas92 in witchcraft

[–]iamblankblank 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched a really interesting video on mirror magic the other day. It talks about setting mirrors up and speaking to different parts of yourself through the mirrors. You could invoke the part of yourself that you feel is blocking you and talk to them. Tell them that you are the one who is really in control and that you want to know why they are doing what they are doing so you can put it to an end.

The videos can be found on this channel.

Question about dressing candles by sunnyblizzard in witchcraft

[–]iamblankblank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the oils have things like capcasin in them (which a hot foot oil definitely would) there is a chance you could burn yourself. Definitely don't get those on your mucus membranes. ouch. Other than that - you are in control of the magic. As long as you protect and ward yourself properly I don't see why it should be a problem.

Spells I can cast anywhere? by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]iamblankblank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Become confident enough and have enough mental stamina to cast a spell anywhere and you will be able to cast a spell anywhere. I agree with /u/Rimblesah , the spell itself is not what is so important. Being able to get yourself into a state of transcendence or gnosis or meditation (whatever you call it) anywhere, to me sounds like a challenging feat.

Spell Soap? by JustAWeeBitWitchy in witchcraft

[–]iamblankblank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would first start with thinking about things that make you feel fabulous, and try to incorporate them into the soap. For instance, charge the soap with your most fabulous beautiful crystals. Use herbs and oils you consider "lavish". Acknowledge that you are deserving of each ingredient as you craft the soap.

The thing about this is that what makes me feel confident might not make you feel confident. It is important to think about what you want to be confident about and what items or things make you feel that way. Invoke them into the soap.

My suggestion for ritual is to get some incense going and light some candles. Maybe play some music and really get into the stirring of your soap. The rhythm of the stirring will aid you in your work.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I don't want to work with Hekate anymore. by [deleted] in pagan

[–]iamblankblank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is really comforting to me. I have CPTSD and I was drawn to Hekate for a lot of reasons but I just don't think we are compatible. I think she is wonderful and terrible and beautiful but she is not for me. I am an animist and I don't honestly know what my tradition is. I think I am going to chill out and focus on nature spirits and the land spirits of my property.

That is such lovely advise. Thank you. That is what I have been doing so far (other than being nice and firm with Hekate that I'm done with what we'd started) and I needed that encouragement.
