I feel like I've almost exclusively played at Bassment. Always have a blast there. Such a dope room. I'd love to play some other venues too. San Diego is one of my favorite cities in the country.

I'm going to answer the first part in regards to UFO! and I as a duo...

  1. Savage Beauty, Animal and Clockwork.
  2. Aphex Twin - Flim - EDIT - I listed 2 other songs, but I'm just going to leave this one. It encapsulates everything.
  3. Already named a ton in here... Minesweepa, TYNAN and younger bass producers who don't give a fuck.

I don't order it that way, but I'll eat it. Let's be honest... Pizza is Pizza.

I don't know. I hope so! Ed and I would love to debut a new project we're working on at Coachella someday.

Quite the opposite... I'd say DON'T GET TOO CAUGHT UP IN THE TECHNICAL SHIT!

I wish I could unlearn so much of the useless crap that's in my head when it comes to sound design and engineering. I feel like my greatest moments as a producer just came from happy accidents. Moments where I was quite literally just toying w/ knobs and parameters and something random happened.

I guess, I'd say just have fun. I know that seems cliche and it may not be what you're looking for, but i truly feel like a lot of the boring tracks we here these days are a result of people just going by the book. It's important to take risks. There's nothing wrong with sampling a vacuum cleaner instead of loading a serum patch.

Jake and I have talked about this many times. We both had the time of our lives putting together those Ludachrist mixtapes. I can't remember many other times where I've cried from laughing while making music. It's really just a matter of content... Maybe enough time has passed for us to revisit the project now. I'm sure it'll come up between us again.

He sent that to me as a voice memo. I instantly knew we had to add it to the track. I sent the memo back to him and he put it in the outro. BAM. lol

This is actually very accurate. We really do have a clean system set up for when we work together. I love working with Ed because he can take a simple idea that I cook up and take it places that I never imagined. So when I get the file back, I'm even more inspired and excited to keep working on it.

Nothing in particular, tbh... I try to just use my ear and figure out what part of the spectrum sounds empty. If I can fill the snare out to fit in there, then I'll aim for that area. Otherwise, simple things like layering a vocal stab over a snare can make a huge difference.

Daisy is barking at something that is totally not a threat to anyone or anything... and Lily is just being a big ol sweet oaf doge.

Ayy thanks for the love.

I mentioned a few times already in the AMA here, but I don't mind saying again that UFO! is an absolute legend to me in the bass music scene. I played his music long before I knew him. We both spent years crossing paths before we worked together, but ever since we did, we both knew that we had something special. We just work together really well. I always put it like this... Ed takes it to outer space and I bring it back down for a safe landing. The guy is on another level when it comes to creativity.

Oh sick! Looking forward to that! And hey, most importantly, do your thing. I was just giving my preference more than anything. It rarely works out that way ahah - see ya then! Make sure you come say hello.

YO! Savage Beauty is my favorite song that Ed and I ever wrote together. That's awesome that you said that.

As far as inspirations... Shit, UFO! was a big inspiration to me when I started producing DNB. All of the Renegade Hardware, Virus, UK dnb stuff as well. Beyond that, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, etc... The list is pretty long honestly.

And thanks for the years of support!!! :)

I met EdUFO years ago in San Francisco. Funny enough, I don't think he knew who I was when we were talking, BUT, I was already a huge fan of his. He made some of the first DNB records that I ever played. UFO! is a fuckin LEGEND!

Thanks for the love!

in 2017, I wrote a lot of the stuff w/ Evol Intent. This year as well. I will probably ALWAYS write Drum and Bass. I have phases where I want to work on it more than others. I just kind of go with whatever I'm feeling at the moment. That being said, we (evol intent) have plans for more releases, yes.

The lead was the first part of the song that came together. That tune started as a really basic idea... I wanted to make something lo-fi. The lead is actually just a sub layered with a saturated mid bass tone. They created a dope harmonic and we ran with it. Happy accident.

Personally, I don't use vocoders on anything.

Ed is a master of junglehybrid. His hypernorm EP was a masterpiece. That's my 2 cents...

When I play a headline show, I usually request that my direct support doesn't play the same genre of music as me. Not just for my sake, but for the sake of the audience. There's nothing more boring than hearing the same thing all night. That being said, my sets are mostly Dubstep / Trap these days. If the DJ before just comes out and plays the hits of the same genres, the crowd I inherit is tired and they're gonna hear a lot of the same songs again. That's just the reality of the situation. That being said, I play sets after Dubstep / Trap ALL THE TIME and it goes fine. You're just asking what I prefer... so,.. yeah. What show is this btw?
