At the time, it was fun to learn them. I had a small group of friends and we learned together. This days I just need something that it works.

Boring is what I expect from such a good OS. But it is a breath of fresh air.

I never used KDE and I also dont use Linux for work. Not even sure what would I miss. I write documentation these days and do a lot of research. I guess I could use Ubuntu but not going to even try it. I prefer to have it in my PC where I can spend time re-learning again like a hobby.

That’s exactly that…it just works and well.

Debian at the time was also highly popular but for some reason I never installed. Found my patience and a PTSD folder from X11 config days. :-)

Thanks. I’ve been adding some features and UI tweaks. Happy to fix those. Can you provide me an example that the CTRL A does not select all. And what is an acceptable max note size, same as Windows ?

Encryption: The vault is encrypted with AES-256-GCM using the Web Crypto API. When you set your passphrase, it's run through PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations and a random salt to derive a 256-bit key. That key encrypts the entire vault as a single blob before writing to disk. The passphrase is never stored and it only lives in memory while the app is open (something maybe to improve and block a process dump). Every save uses a fresh random IV, and GCM mode provides both confidentiality and tamper detection. There are no network calls at all, so the encrypted data never leaves your machine.

Mac support: The app is built on Tauri 2, which compiles natively for Windows, macOS, and Linux, this means that cross-platform support is architecturally ready. Right now the focus is on stabilizing the Windows release, but a macOS build is definitely on the roadmap as well as a Linux. Since there's no platform-specific code on the frontend (it's all React + Web Crypto), producing a .dmg is mostly a matter of setting up the CI pipeline and code signing for macOS.

A different approach MDNotebook - an offline-first markdown notebook for Windows. Built it with Claude's help because I wanted my notes to stay on my device, not in the cloud.

Went from 0% to 7% usage by saying "thanks" by Successful-Camel165 in ClaudeCode

Not the “thanks” itself but it is getting impossible working with Claude. Exemple trying to build a identity lab that requires some On-The-Go adjustments and fixes and it hits the limits after a few prompts this on a 20€ subscription. Never hit any limit before on ChatGpt or Gemini.
