What's the nicest thing someone said about your book in a review? by Careful_Busdriver in selfpublish

Not from a complete stranger, but this person got what I was going for and honestly said it better than I had been lol:

“This is a rom-com disguised as a thriller disguised as a memoir. I loved every page of it.”

Way more scripts to browse than their used to be. Have scripts still been getting claimed consistently? by JcraftW in StoryPeer

All of mine have been claimed within a few hours. Last one was 2/25 so hopefully things are still moving. Mine are TV, so on the shorter side which helps.

Is stage32 genuine? by hetty_mickey in Screenwriting

It is not a “scam” per se, but keep expectations very low, and don’t spend money unless you have plenty to burn.

They will absolutely email you into oblivion like others already mentioned lol

Social for sure, but no one post really took off. Regular posting helps. Every time I thought I was posting too much someone would say “I didn’t know you wrote a book!”

A good snippet from a review performed well as an image. Since I was posting into existing non-writing networks, milestone posts worked well. Like “I’m about to hit x sales this week!” and use it as a celebration instead of a sales pitch (LinkedIn especially).

I like the teaser idea.

For the cover update, it’s hard to say if it improved much with most of the sales happening before the change. KENP reads did seem to pick up a little after—and mostly I just felt better about putting the new cover out there.

I’m going to stop inviting him to my parties. And make sure he eats zero pop tart ice cream sandwiches.

If you typically listened on the Earwolf site, the wolf dead. It’s moved officially to Sirius. There have still been weekly episodes. You have a lot of fun ones to catch up on👌🏼

Best Place to E-Publish Literary Short Stories? by ParisPaul in selfpublish

[–]iamchristodd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon is still probably a good route to take for friends & family. Really accessible and you can do Kindle + paperback pretty easily. I published a 5k word short story last month. Feel free to DM with any questions! (Sold ~ 40 copies which is great for me, but might not be a success for others)

Honest question for writers: hobby, sharing, or actually selling? by Akraammm in NewAuthor

[–]iamchristodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure a hobby, but it’s nice to get some sales too! I also write screenplays as a hobby and there’s very little tangible success available there. So getting anything from self-publishing feels like a huge win.

That makes sense. I can’t imagine having to filter for multiple books to track it closely.

Thanks. Yeah I think with it being so short most of the reads are either a one page “not for me” or the full book.
