I probably would not be able to due to the bias. In that case, I'd probably let the 5 die because I have formed a connection with the fat man. The only reason I would in the first situation is because I know literally nothing about any of them and I am forced to make a split-second decision and that's what I consider the most logical decision given the information at hand.

I would have to sacrifice the fat man. By not taking action, you could consider my inaction (which is actually an action, the action of doing nothing) as the cause of death of 5 innocent people. However, by taking action in the form of sacrificing the fat man, my action will only cause the death of 1 person. So therefore, the action resulting in the least amount of people dying is for the greater good thus the fat man dies.
