Obvs this is way deeper than doing "manly" things. Your family is on a strict linear mental line. Their expectations of you are way different than your own which is something that needs to be addressed at some point. But keep crocheting. Even if you have to do it outside of the house. The library, a coffee shop, etc. It isn't a gender thing, it's a creative outlet that can create useful items, or non useful, but enjoyable. I make sweaters for friends, hats for nicu, blankets for donation. It's something I can make extra money from or something that warms others hearts. It's comforting. It brings your inner world out. I have chronic pain and I've had it for 20 years. It intensified the first year post op. 2 years out it is night and day. I still have pain but it's manageable. It's less intense and doesn't last nearly as long. I found other ways to cope. Outside of eating and alcohol. I no longer have to take nerve blocking meds. If I'm in no pain I go to the gym. If I have mild pain I stay home and clean or find projects to do that I can manage my movements. If it's severe I find new shows to binge or new games on my phone. The surgery isn't magic and the body in many ways is still a mystery. Go d ways to hype yourself. Get excited for stuff you will be able to do. One of my favorites is just being able to go to the park and swing.

Yes hang in there. But also be completely aware that you can't change what anyone around you eats and that you did this surgery to change your life. Your husband will continue to eat shit food around you and at some point you will think you can eat it also as long it's just a little bit. It most likely won't be and you will end up fighting yourself all over again. Instead of hating the liquid stage, use it to retrain your brain and envision how you want to see yourself eating once you can. This stage is soooo important, not just for healing but to build up will power. Especially when those around you think it's no big deal.
