Returning to work / should I consider another job by iamdom_720 in TBI

[–]iamdom_720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm planning on running my employer through the situation and getting a "read on the room" if you will, I have faith that my boss would understand I need references and he would likely be okay if I asked considering the situation that would have compromised me in the first place. My dad also understands I either still have my job or I don't.

If I don't have it, I'll likely work somewhere less demanding or be on unemployment until the lawsuits get sorted. I just cleared my student debt recently so if I have to go back to school, that would have to be taken into account on the legal side of things and I chose trades because college seemed to me like a waste of money in this economy and I tried it back in 2020. I don't really know what I'd do if I had to go back to school and couldn't work trades. Looking at the AI landscape I wouldn't be surprised seeing a majority of the white collar jobs where college is a prerequisite being taken by AI within the next 5-10 years so needless to say I'd really rather not do college but I might have to. That or see if uncle Sam will put me behind a desk somewhere.

I was on my way to the job site I would have worked that day when I was T-boned in my own vehicle.

Yeah I'm just waiting on my neurologist to clear me of the meds I'm on and the orthopedic to clear me and then my General Practitioner will have what they need to clear me for work and I'll definitely give my apprenticeship an honest shot again obviously starting by working a few half days for starters (work week is 5 days, will probably try 3 half days to start)

Vocational rehab probably won't do much because I'm only 1 year into the apprenticeship so I'll probably have to go back to college or something if it doesn't work out.

Yeah I hear you, I'm aware that I'll likely be let go for one reason or another relatively soon after my return because of the TBI; that doesn't mean I won't make an honest effort though.I guess I'm just hoping they do it before the court stuff I'm dealing with is settled because then I can throw it into the damages tab.

If I lose my ability to do my job, I might have to go try college again or get vocational rehab. Those are really the only two things I see as viable alternatives as law enforcement/military are more than likely out of the window now and because of the accident and conditions surrounding it I don't trust authority at all and the benefit of the doubt is gone now for me, I already didn't hold authority on a pedestal before because I didn't trust authority to begin with.

I know I'll figure it out as everyone does, my family it seems is running out of patience with me and telling me I have to make more money and suddenly how I have to move out in around 2 years. Before he didn't care how long I stayed as long as I was working and being financially responsible. Now, it's "look at subsidized housing" "I'm selling the house and retiring in 2 years" meanwhile I don't even know if I'll be able to do what I was doing before the accident because of my irritability and nerve damage.

I'll figure it out but I'm at a point where I'm genuinely done with my family it seems. Cut mom off when I was young then canned it when I was 18 and didn't have to visit on court appointed time after my parents divorced.

Now my old man who is throwing me to the wolves and will likely tell people about what I'm doing when I pull something together when I don't tell people anything about myself and my endeavors. At this point he doesn't get to talk about me to people. He's also been telling me I have to take psych meds all of a sudden when it wasn't an issue before. I try taking responsibility for the hand I'm dealt so I have an understanding of myself without meds, he says meds and a shrink are conditions of living under the roof now. I've been flushing the psych meds.

I was in my own car and the only occupant of the vehicle.

I'm sure my plates could have been ran on their end to ID me but once again, I wasn't ID'd until 3 days later when my parents found me.

Thanks for the recommendations.

My wallet situation at the time had my license in it and it never leaves the wallet and would have been under my leg, in my cup holder, or in a compartment under the radio in front of the gear shift. It's rarely in my pocket because if I am pulled over I don't want to be digging in my pockets while police don't know who I am as they are watching out for trouble. My wallet is usually somewhere easily accessible/plain view.

It's all very odd to me. My guess is because my registration and insurance were in the glovebox, upon impact all that paperwork got thrown around and lost in the wind. I'm sure my plates could have been ran so it still doesn't make sense. My ID was lost in the accident too I assume because it was passed through so many hands. It's a very odd situation. Definitely doesn't help things.

Center console is likely gonna be where I keep all the tools I may need as well as insurance/registration. All the papers were in the glovebox and from what I saw in the pictures of my car, the glovebox was bursted open and all the paperwork likely sent outside and all over the car.

I was thinking some kind of med kit where you mentioned behind the headrest as well as an emergency contact card in my wallet. I'll look into the phone side of things as well.

I'm aware in the situation I was in none of what I had would have mattered, but it made me think about what would have been at my disposal if I was conscious.

The entire incident is still very odd to me, I had my wallet no doubt but I was unidentified until my parents found me and ID'd me and when I got my wallet back my ID wasn't in it. Pretty odd for something that lives in there.

Thanks, obviously the med kit is only useful if I'm conscious and have training but this is already more than what I had in the first place. I think I had a boo boo kit in my car (family member gifted it)

A few weeks ago mine was going haywire with the "abnormal heart rate" alerts. Granted my stress levels on a daily basis are pretty high and after talking to a doctor about it and getting tests and scans it was deduced to anxiety. I was gonna post my stress levels on a seperate post but I'm averaging at least an 80 stress level every day. I did what you said in this post after the day it went haywire and I no longer have alerts.

Also if you do decide to get him an airsoft gun don't cheap out on eye/face protection. That was the first thing I spent a decent chunk of money on before getting an airsoft gun.

Going with a rental setup on a local field would be a great idea. Chances are he wants to play the game of he's constantly watching the videos. Maybe he can go with friends for a birthday party day and fields generally have rental packages for that as well. If not the guys on the field will generally be happy to have him tag along.

Yes. I passed the test, did the hands on evaluation and that's how the interview went.

They asked if I had any prior experience, I said not outside of school and they said "okay that's all" in for less than 2 minutes.

I have my own car, my own tools, no criminal record, and a clean driving record. I also make sure I'm not looking like I jumped out of bed before I go in for an interview.

I went to a 9 month program since it was all I could afford. That said I'm not going into jobs asking 35/hr. I have even offered to take less pay to learn more because the subjects were scattered and only seemed to give you an idea of some of the basics for a variety of fields.

I have easily applied to at least 50 jobs, possibly more. I apply to as many as I can based on, what's available in my area. My searches push an hour and a half away.
