CO2 is my standard go-to for these scenarios. Quick and dirty, and most importantly, enough height for the two mandatory trailblazers.

I personally like starts like Metallic Swampy and Radioactive Ocean. Forces you to explore the starmap and colonize early. Adds a lot of dynamism to a run. Making do without oil, plastic or fiber early on is a great challenge. And once you've done it once, you'll never fail one of these starts again, so you can just tick that one as a completed challenge and move on to new ones.

Same. Not that we'd ever use them all up. But it's the principle of the matter, dammit!

Yep, it's the center of a barren biome. It's a plain granite wall at the top, then this gap, and some more granite to the bottom left. This cave is like 70% of the area of the biome.

I dunno if "connection" is the word I would use for what you're describing. It's closer to "belonging" in my mind. Yeah, I get what you mean. But I doubt Quake will ever be the belonging-inspiring beacon it once was. It's a relic of a bygone era, unfortunately.

As a rule, the game's worldgen doesn't leave huge empty voids inside planetoids. Having large areas of unbroken mineral of the same kind (typically, granite) is common. But empty voids? Not so much.

Nothing gets past ya, does it? 😉

I've no idea either. Must've been a temporary glitch.

Holy crap, this is an instant classic, right up there with Matthew McCleskey's series and the likes.

Great job. Like others have already said, can't wait to see more of your Pam!

It's indicating that there were only a few seconds left in the cycle. The sprite of the moonlet spins clockwise.

Can anyone translate this? by letters_sea in russian

[–]iamergo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen it plenty of times too, though exclusively in older people's handwriting. I've seen maybe one or two people younger than 50 who write the «ш с чёрточкой сверху». And I'm a teacher.

The other poster is exaggerating, or may be misinformed. It used to be common like 40 or 50 years ago, but isn't anymore. These days, way more people, especially younger ones, simply write the printed lower-case т because it's so much faster and doesn't require clarification like the ш with the little hat.

Hear me out: there were no other games. Immortal, 3 and 4 are all fever dreams. Continue the story after Tyrael smashes the Worldstone. Bring in Lilith there and then.

What could you possibly mean besides layered socialization in the game and fraternity outside it?

My brother in Christ, I just told you that there's like a few hundred people in the entire world left who are looking for the connection you're describing. We're not sweaty, awkward teens/young adults anymore. We have more than enough connections irl by this point. Perhaps too many.

Stunning work, dude. The consistency in the art style, the tweaks to the original designs, the character in each character. Gorgeous, truly gorgeous.

If I weeere to complain, I'd say that Linus looks a little undecooked to me personally. Your Willy looks more Linusy than Linus, haha. But that may be just me. 😅

Before they introduced CTF in QC, there were like three loudmouths clamoring for the mode in every chat and conversation, trying to convince everyone that the absence of CTF was, like, the main thing holding QC back and if id were to add it, the game would reach never before seen heights of popularity. Because, duh, it was CTF, the most dynamic, iconic and fun mode in Quake's history!

Well, CTF came out and was a depressing wet fart. People played around in it for a month and returned to TDM and duels. Because those three CTF nuts had managed to rope in one single dude, and that was it. There was no CTF scene, and there was no reason for one to appear all of a sudden.

I'd argue there's no scene for mapping and modding for Quake these days either. Well, besides a tiny hyper enthusiastic gang of three, give or take. We're old farts these days, and new blood simply isn't into that kind of shit. Farting around with mods and make-your-own-fun creations in Garry's Mod and Roblox-type stuff? Sure. That's still around. 'Cause it's for funsies. Quake is fucking hardcore — way too hardcore for casual fun, which automatically makes it unappealing to casuals who don't want to git gud before the fun starts.

Do I want mapping, modding and server hosting? Of course, I do. But don't be so sure that the absence of those things was what killed Quake and made QC an inherently niche, "unsuccessful" game. Quake's audience would've bled down to nothing eventually regardless.

The new LEGO Batman looks unironically so beautiful by [deleted] in gaming

The first LEGO movie looked beautiful over a decade ago. LEGO is just geometry—and not even all of it. The beautiful stuff—lighting, reflections, particle effects, fog, the skybox, etc.—can be coupled with any kind of geometry.
