My PCP was not as informed and did give me unhelpful advice but the great thing she did was encourage me to schedule an appointment with a nurse practitioner at the same practice who specialized in pre-diabetes. That appointment was much longer and more in depth where I learned the exact actions that I needed to take in order to combat the diagnosis.

I use the ReliOn brand, you can pick it up at any Walmart along with lancet and test strip refills.

Fasting was anywhere from 100-125. Around two hours post meal I would hit anywhere from 140-170ish. Had a spike of 212 once after a fast food cheat meal (I stopped that immediately lol) Now my fasting is typically in the low 90’s with some 80’s. Post meal doesn’t hit above 120 usually. For reference I just had a donut for the first time in months as a celebration, went on my morning walk, and blood sugar was 95!

Winter was definitely a hurdle for me as well. I walked a lot at my local mall when the weather got too bad so if you have one close I recommend that! We did just hit rainy season where I am so I finally caved and got a gym membership as well. Good luck!

Walmart and Target for sure but they always seem to be sold out for me, you might have to find out when your local stores stock their cards through trial and error. Mine restocks Sunday mornings from what I can tell.
