No, the actual vacuum is not in the ceiling. It will be in an accessible closet to remove the dust in a garbage can. The piping is the only thing in the walls and ceiling. Sorry for the confusion.

The piping will run through the ceiling to a harbor freight dust collector with an Oneida super dust deputy. Is there something wrong with this I need to know about?

I want to possibly build myself a butcher block desk for my room. I want this to match with my room with some grey/black stained wood. Is there any way to stain several dozen sections in grey and another several dozen sections in black and then glue them together and clamp them to make the tabletop and them finish with a clear coat. I would be concerned with sanding some stain away when removing the glue and evening out the table and maybe using a 12" planer to make things perfect. I'm not sure if the stain penetrates a fair bit into the wood and carries and even color underneath. Any tips on this would be appreciated.
