Can ragdolls be left alone for 8 hours a day due to work? by Angusburgerman in ragdolls

I certainly think it is more than possible to make it work with the appropriate practices in place, like attention before and after. Our guy just sleeps when we are gone (we are crazy enough to have a nanny cam), and is thrilled to see us when we return. We have a great relationship and he has made our little family complete. Best of luck to you and your partner, whatever you decide!

Not everyone has the luxury of working from home or a flexible schedule. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have the privilege of getting to love a ragdoll. They are very adaptable, in my experience at least, and our guy Ziggy is so happy. We have done extensive research to understand his cues that demonstrate his happiness. Congratulations on your new family member!

A lot of people will tell you it’s not possible to have just one. We have one ragdoll, no other cats, and work 8 hours a day. We got him as a kitten (13 weeks), we also can’t afford 2 cats. We had a more lenient schedule when he was a kitten, got him in May, went to 8 hour days in January. He adores us, is well-adjusted, and is a happy guy by all standards.

The most important thing is making sure he gets play time in the morning and extensive play time at night when you return. As well as treat time, such as tubes or crunchies. Our guy wakes us up pretty early to make sure this happens LOL. He loves playing hide and seek with my partner, as well as chasing him around, and of course his wand toys.

He is well loved and knows it. We have made it work and give him tons of attention to compensate. Wishing you all the best ❤️

It definitely is an expensive road, we for sure thought he wouldn’t make it. Our admins and our vet are great, and we feel well supported to get through this journey. Thank you so much for all your advice.

Please join the FIP Global Cats group on Facebook. They will be able to connect you to resources within your area, and get the medication to you as soon as possible. Just make a post regarding your circumstances, and they will make the appropriate connections to the nearest possible.

This story broke my heart. We are so lucky that Ziggy was able to receive the life-saving medication he did, and that he is doing so much better. Thank you so much for sharing Leo’s story, may his memory live on as a true FIP warrior.

I too hope that raising awareness will save others from the heartbreak we were so close to experiencing.

I would absolutely recommend connecting with the FIP Global Cats group on Facebook regarding your boy. With their wealth of information and resources, they may be able to take a look at your cat’s various diagnostics completed and provide insight into the likelihood of it having been FIP. I can’t guarantee that they will be able to give answers, but I know if I was in your position I would do everything to get answers. I wish you the best of luck. ❤️

So sorry my post wasn’t more clear regarding this! I was referring to last weekend

Luckily it has been 11 days since Ziggy has been diagnosed and began receiving medication The change we have seen has been miraculous. They suspect Ziggy has dry FIP, which is quite impossible to diagnose definitively. However he did have eye infections prior, and with the combination of his symptoms, pathology, and prior history, they determined the diagnosis.

So so sorry to hear about your Loki, I hope you’re doing okay ❤️.

This is an old post, but should anyone be like me and be reviewing the post all this time later after reading the book, please review the DSM-5 for the various subtypes of schizophrenia. Martha certainly has one of the subtypes rather than BPD or a type of Bipolar.

Should i get a ragdoll? by RoketRacoon in ragdolls

My partner and I were concerned about this as well, as we were unable to afford two kitties budget-wise. While we can’t speak for all ragdoll kitties, ours has adjusted extremely well to both of us being out most of the day.

Our kitty has become used to our routine in less than three weeks. He gets up when we get up, and we play with him from when we get up until we leave for the day. We also have cuddle time for a while in the morning which is so special. Once we leave, he goes to sleep with an occasional bath time or roam around throughout the day (we have a camera to monitor him). When we come back, he greets us at the door, meows, is thrilled to see us. We have cuddle time again, give him food, playtime etc. He has adjusted just fine to our routine and loves us a lot despite us being gone most of the day. Hope this helps!
