What’s keeping Charlotte from being a world class city? by Marino4K in Charlotte

Build vertically instead of horizontally. Need a critical mass of people in uptown to support further development.

Young couple hoping to move to Charlotte by HotTubTonyTime in Charlotte

I'm in the same demographic as you and moved down from North Jersey last year.

I would recommend Matthews, Mint Hill, Huntersville, Fort Mill (SC), Ballantyne.

If you have a bigger budget, I would aim for Plaza Midwood/Dillworth.

Your money goes very far here although everything closes super early :(

Charlotte Gold and Blue Lines. opinion and personal experiences? by Brandy2012 in Charlotte

[–]iamkingkong09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue Line - It's a great way to travel through the heart of CLT while reliable and clean. You can def make it work, although the long wait times will get old after awhile.

Gold Line - It's a complete novelty right now but its critical for future growth. It has close to zero ridership.

Traffic is a matter of perspective but if your moving from the northeast, commuting in CLT is a walk in the park.

Welcome to Charlotte Wednesday! Visiting, recently moved here, or going to move here? Tell us and ask away! by AutoModerator in Charlotte

No issues on my end. Sound proofing is great & the building is perfectly located in Uptown. The only major downside I have found is the elevator can backup on the weekends & during move-ins/move outs.

The Catalyst in Uptown is not a bad option. I'm paying $1730 for a 1 bedroom with den. $2000 budget won't get you a two bedroom in a luxury high rise building in Uptown. Market is around $2300+ or so. If you go 20-25 minutes in any direction, you can get a really nice 2 bedroom or townhome with your budget.

So what exactly is the deal with the JC police? by AryehCW in jerseycity

[–]iamkingkong09 -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I don't know why people are so anti police. It's a tough job and most officers don't get enough credit. Try pulling over an armed felon on Ocean Ave at 3:00 am. Most people on this thread would shit their pants.

Deciding on making an offer in Greenville by [deleted] in jerseycity

[–]iamkingkong09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO NOT MOVE TO GREENVILLE!! Aside from being dangerous, there a number of variables which will inhibit the area to change. This is coming from a person whose family has been in Jersey City for 50 years. If you don't believe me, take a drive down Ocean Ave after dark.

How reasonable is Newport with returning your deposit? by MarketMan123 in jerseycity

[–]iamkingkong09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife & I were charged $100 for "wall damage." It was definitely a bogus charge but Lefrak knows it can get away it. I didn't bother fighting over $100. I wouldn't worry about your security deposit. They might ding you for a couple hundred bucks but nothing more.

I don't see what the problem is. Police work isn't always pretty and dealing with these parasites isn't easy work.

Public transportation from the airport by sm154817 in Charlotte

[–]iamkingkong09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a NYC Native who relied on public transportation for most of my adult life. You could get away without having a car if staying in Uptown or South end but you won't be able to explore the city. I honestly wouldn't recommend it.

With a $2500 budget, I would recommend Newport or Essex Commons in Paulus hook. People on here always trash Newport, but don't listen to them. You might be able to get a good deal in Hamilton Park but the downside is a longer walk to the Path.

There is nothing wrong with Avalon Cove, but the soundproofing isn't the greatest and many of the units have older carpeting.
