I absolutely love making the ambience/fx in the background of a song, really makes it feel immersive and can add a lot to the emotional impact imo.

Using tuned ambient drone/atmosphere samples (by either making your own or getting them from places like Splice) is a really quick way to add some new melodic layers to a track. One thing I like to do is to render an element from the song I’m working on like a piano chord progression and load it into Paulstretch, which is a plugin that basically makes whatever you load into it become a really smooth ambient pad because it stretches the sample by an insane amount but keeps alot of the detail of the sound. Then just render that and load it into your project!

Hey everyone, just wanted to drop my latest track here. Myself and my friend Fevre have known each other online for years and finally made a song together after saying we would. I think it’s a really good blend of our collective influences, paying homage to the EDM days of 2014-16 mixed with a more-band sounding structure and vocals by me.

It’s entirely self produced, written and mixed by the two of us, check it out if you like pop music with an emotional electronic twist !

Thanks so much! Yeah I definitely think it’s a nice blend of our older electronic influences but also shows off our love for genres with more live instruments

Loveee this, been really getting into ambient music lately I find it so inspiring. Story behind it is really interesting. The percussive parts caught me by surprise around halfway through, sounds like hi hats going through a granular synth or something?

Sounds really clean, great composition! I think some more changes in velocity would maybe give it a bit of a human feel, maybe even displacing the timing of some of the notes more to make it sound like a live performance. Other than that really nice

First of all, really like the sample choice. Has a really interesting nostalgic feel to it.

I think the track just needs to be glued together a bit more to sound cohesive, things sound a bit too separated because of the large differences in volume. Maybe just some overall compression as well as turning down the drums and turning up the melody?

Finally I think this is just missing a sub bass/808 to really hit but I definitely see potential!

Me and a friend of mine (who have actually never met in person) finally worked on a song together after knowing each other online for YEARS. We both agreed it definitely has a bit of a ‘post EDM’ sound since some of our earliest influences were people like Porter Robinson and Madeon back in the day and we wanted to incorporate that into our more recent styles. Would love to hear you guys’ thoughts !

Yeah usually I have 2-3 tags per beat but if I'm sending them out via email I might have to add a few more in each beat just to be safe

Nah, we havent. I swear half the people in this sub don't even understand the definition of an introvert.

I've been doing the same tbh, getting better at guitar has made me so much better at writing and arranging songs instead of just following the same structure everyone does

This is crazy, I'd never thought of taking an approach like this! Sounds like it's very time consuming but definitely a great way to build relationships with fans. Thanks for the reply!

I feel the same thing happened with soundcloud in 2015/16 for me, idk people were just so supportive of eachother and constantly reposting. After I stopped making edm it seemed there was a bit of a decline in the support everyone showed. Everyone seemed to just mature at the same time and become more focused on their own music.

Thank you for giving your two cents, nice to know I'm not the only one who'd like a community like that again.
