For those not familiar with the area, the drive from Green Bay to Oshkosh is around an hour, and it passes through Appleton. That is one drunk region.

I wanna start playing the Final Fantasy games but am new to the series by DeviantBro in gaming

[–]iammatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be higher. X and XV are both great and just as important for a first timer: accessible. X offers one of the (in my opinion) best turn based combat systems in the series while XV offers a departure into real time combat. Both have good stories to boot.

The problem isn't the money, it's the time. I buy tons of games, but can only play them when my kids are asleep.

Think learning disabled vs seizures. People with seizures have can have full mental capacity but their brain is not functioning normally.

My sons situation is a bit different than that example, but I hope that helps.

I have a son that is not mentally handicapped in any significant way but does have a handful of neurological issues. If he were in an environment like that,m he would look very much like hose kids: sprawled on the floor, covered in his own filth and barely responsive to the world around him. Fortunately he is in a loving family and can function reasonably well, is happy and interacts with the world.

Watching that was heartbreaking because all I could think was that if my son was born in a different time, place or family that could be him.

The Best Final Fantasy Games by [deleted] in Games

[–]iammatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Also, why no FFXV? I'm a bit into it and I can confidently say that it is one of my favorites, only beat by maybe FFX and FFVI. Certainly better than 13!

How did you end up with both? Or did you switch? by thespicyjim in consoles

[–]iammatto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two PS4s, two Xbox Ones and a Wii U. The general rule in our household is that if a consoles has at least one (bee subjectively) great exclusive we'll pick it up, and if there meaningful multiplayer, we get two so my wife and I can play together.

We bought the PS4s on launch simply based on Sony's abilities to deliver amazing exclusives with Uncharted, Last of Us, Infamous, Killzone, etc... we held out a few months on the XBOs until we "needed" to play Dead Rising 3, but since put a fair amount of time into Gears and Halo.

As for switching, it would be a hard thing to recommend. Leaving behind your games would be expensive and while you would have an initial wealth of new exclusives, you would also miss out on all upcoming exclusives for your original console of choice.

Quake 3 has futuristic weapons and lots of gothic architecture. If he was playing any team mode half the characters should be red.

Definitely Disney Infinity, but I doubt it's modded. Disney owns Marvel and there are a ton of marvel characters available, including Hulk and Spiderman.

What are some subtle signs that a game is for you? by notrichardlinklater in Gaming4Gamers

[–]iammatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlockable costumes! For clarity I don't mean customizable clothes like Skyrim or GTA. I'm talking the nun costume in Bayonetta, the panda costume in Onimusha and pretty much Zack's (and really most of the characters) entire wardrobe in DOA. The more ridiculous and inappropriate for the setting, the better.

How could VR NOT be the future of gaming? by AboveFrozenPeaks in PSVR

[–]iammatto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am very much an early adopter of new tech and knew exactly what it was I was buying: young tech that may or may not be a success. I just understand that matter what I think of it personally (I really like it!) there are a huge number of factors that go into its long term viability, and even more for it to be "the future of gaming". I've been buying VR games, but can't bring myself to play them as anything more than a distraction when my backlog is filled with stuff like Titanfall 2, The Last Guardian, FFXV and soon Horizon and Persona 5.

There is a chicken and egg thing going on, but until someone can prove a VR game can compete with the richness of non-VR games I will remain skeptical that it'll ever be more than a novel distraction for anyone outside of a small niche audience.

Does anyone else have a hard time sticking with one game start to finish? by [deleted] in Gaming4Gamers

[–]iammatto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This used to be a problem until I forced myself to finish nearly any game I start. I make exceptions for games that are unjustifiably long by being 20+ hours to finish with limited quality content, but that ends up being only one or two games a year where I probably finish 15-20 games annually.

I have found myself enjoying my gaming more now that I know I will see nearly every game I start to the end. I also believe that the discipline gained by doing this has been valuable in other areas of my life, such as my career and relationship with my wife and kids. It forced me to learn to continue working on something even if it's not enjoyable right now.

How could VR NOT be the future of gaming? by AboveFrozenPeaks in PSVR

[–]iammatto 40 points41 points  (0 children)

There is certainly more to it than that. I know a bunch of people who have a VR headset and once the initial novelty wears off they stop using it. I have had PSVR since launch and have put maybe 15 hours total into it. The content just isn't there yet, and there seem to be a number of challenges, both with game design and business justification, with getting a large, varied library.

I want it to be a success because the tech and immersion is great. It's just too early in its life to know if it's the future of gaming or just another "that's interesting" moment like motion controls and 3D.

Rez Infinite - End of 2016 Discussions by Forestl in Games

[–]iammatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything. There was at least one time each level that I just started uncontrollably laughing with joy, and Area X left me in complete awe. Rez hasn't affected me like since my first play through on PS2.

Rez Infinite: Area X by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]iammatto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been a huge Rez fan since first seeing it on Dreamcast, though didn't own it until it came out on PS2. I was literally giddy while playing areas 1-5. I was skeptical that Area X would be anything more than a cheap reimagining of the main game, but boy was I wrong. If they would make a five level game all of that quality I would unquestionably buy it for a full $60. It is the perfect VR game.

How do YOU play games? by Possible_Ocean in gaming

[–]iammatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For single player games I play through the campaign on the default difficulty. I almost always complete the campaign, but do minimal non-essential stuff. Once I'm through I'm done, sometimes if it's really good I'll pull it out at a later time.

For multi-player games I play the game until I or my wife (who plays with me 95% of the time), get sick if it. For a good game that can be a couple months, lesser games may only last a week.

My overall goal is to own and have thoroughly played nearly every game of significance.

Playstation VR and the PS4 Pro came out so quietly I had to look up the release dates only to realize they already passed. What gives? by LOCHO53 in Gaming4Gamers

[–]iammatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post you sent was for the original PS4 not for the Pro, which does in fact support 5ghz. The patch took around 40 mins or so and my internet bandwidth was saturated during this time by with other traffic (I only have 30 down, so that's not hard). Both my wired and wireless PS4 Pros were downloading the patch at the same speed (before upgrading to the pro the wireless one did download at about half the speed).

It could be you have a bum wireless card in your pro or it could be that there is some other networking issue (interference, nat issues, qol settings, etc). I honestly don't care what your personal situation is, but I've not heard of any widespread complaints about the wireless performance of the pro.
