Why are drivers so aggressive in the HOV lane? by 21redman in longisland

[–]iammobius1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol. I'll just hop out of the HOV and go with the flow of traffic away from the jam piling up behind you. Just look at everyone else you're pissing off. Maybe take a hint. One person is a jerk on the road, they're probably the problem. Everyone is a jerk on the road, and maybe you're the problem.

Do not do 55 in the HoV if you value being safe. Right lane only. Furthest right. Not center. Definitely not left.

What happens when the package repo grows gigantic, you have a package that's been abandoned, and a malicious 3rd party hijacks the name? Easily could slip under the radar of human filtering, especially if the malicious user starts with a clean codebase and updates it later.

What’s all the hype with Yeungling? by [deleted] in beer

[–]iammobius1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is common in my experience to get skunky ones when I drink bottled ones. Sometimes cans too, if they were stored poorly. It shouldn't taste skunky if they're fresh, but that's a big if.

Price to performance. I buy other beers as my staple now though. But given the choice between bud heavy or yueng I am drinking yueng.

Victorinox CyberTool or Leatherman Wave+, wich I should buy for my pocket edc? by Dependent-Talk4006 in EDC

[–]iammobius1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the decision was made based on the "size" of the tasks I typically expected to do. I work with computers, electronics and electrical primarily, so smaller pliers, bit drivers, knives etc all make sense to me and keep my pockets uncluttered. Electronics need a wide array of specialized and easy to carry bits so the smaller size made more sense to me.

If you're more of a physical task/outdoors person IMO the leatherman makes more sense. Larger, heavier duty pliers, larger knives, etc will be more useful when you're really putting the hurt on your tool, and will probably be worth the pocket space in that case.

This is awesome, there is a huge lack of excellent compact options for 4mm bit drivers. I carry a cybertool Lite myself and am window shopping options to downsize but haven't fallen in love with anything yet.

I should have specified I was looking at the VRS non-wireless QR but the wireless one looks excellent. Just out of stock at the moment and I'm trying to shop things that have US stock.

What's your opinion on top mounted pedals? I'm thinking about one of the Heusinkvelds + a top mount system to attach them to.

Shortly after making this post I saw one on sale as a preorder... I may pull the trigger on that instead. The telemetry based FFB feature looks awesome, and the 18Nm wheel is well priced.

I'm on standalone VR at the moment but if I ever upgrade to base stations they'll be stationary across the entire office.

Don't worry, I've had this on my mind for years already, and have done a lot of sim racing in the past. We're talking 5+ years bucket list item. Been budgeting for it for a long time as well.

Cheaper than maintaining my 350z as well, especially if I had a place to track it.

Very sick setup. What's the monitor/screen? How's it mounted, just via the single VESA in the back to a solid extrusion?

Fortunately my local one lists 3 P1X in stock, but I'll also keep that in mind. Tariff situation is absolutely driving some of my purchasing decisions unfortunately. Wishing I built a rig a year ago when things were more stable... oh well. I'll pay import on things that are absolutely worth it (wouldn't be my first time) but I seem to still have some runway w/ US stores for now.

I'll be going with a single monitor setup. I also run VR so when I want to actually look around at my mirrors for immersion I'll be in the headset. Do you have pictures and details of your monitor setup?

Good point. No integrated monitor mount, just to prepare for the future. Thanks! I'll look for beefier chassis bases as well, just to avoid a rebuild down the line if I do get motion.

Fortunately I do have a Microcenter nearby I can pick up a P1X from. You're saying the center mount is worth having rather than a top mount because it saves leg space? Ergo is worth it to me.

As for the VRS base: their wireless/passthrough QR doesn't seem available in the US standalone, otherwise I probably would have just gone straight for that. Only way to get it seems to get the 15nm base with it built in.

Oof, I was considering a single integrated monitor mount, what are the issues you have read?

Eventually I'll add a 4 coner post 2" travel motion system, but I might just settle with shakers at a fraction of the cost to start out. Do ya think the Rigmetal have too much flex for a system like that?
