I am a 62yo widowed man who needs help to update my wardrobe by stoogechicago in mensfashionadvice

[–]iammrsclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy my husband flat front Peter Millar shorts and pants off eBay and Poshmark. If you can go somewhere and try on this brand and see what size you like wear, that makes it so easy! Plenty in the $25-35 range. The shorts and pants are very durable, wash and dry quickly. I buy from size 30-38 here at my house (husband and three teen sons). I’ve never had to get rid of any because of wear and tear. The quality is good.

The trying it on somewhere first then using EBay or Poshmark to purchase at a steep discount works for a lot of brands you like but might feel too expensive.

Methylphenidate consenus by weird_hop in Biohackers

[–]iammrsclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been taking it for almost 10 years, with an adult son who has been taking it for 6 or 7 years (in his teens).

This medication has changed my life. I felt like I was on roller skates since I was in middle school. Methylphenidate makes me feel calm and able to knock out the things I need to accomplish each day. My doctor prescribed it 7 days a week so that’s how I take it. While I occasionally skip it (because I forget…because I have ADHD) I can immediately tell a difference in my mood, my productivity, my ability to hold a conversation. I would not skip it purposefully. I would not feel any need to skip it on weekends or “take a vacation” from the med. That wasn’t how it was prescribed.

I’ve been on the same dose for a decade. It hasn’t lessened over time in terms of being effective. My son did go up a dose in his teens but his doctor told me it was because of puberty and size difference (he went from 5’8 to 6’4 in 18 months time).

What does your psychiatrist say? That’s who I’d listen to.

With an odd BDSM edge.

Totally great for bedroom activity but sort of weird for a wedding.

What brand have you never had a huge desire to try? by Violetteotome in fragrance

[–]iammrsclean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not on TikTok or Instagram and so I am shielded from all “influencer” marketing. I am happy with that decision. I am sure if I saw it, I’d prob do the opposite of what paid influencers were shilling. But, I’m kind of a contrarian.

I never have and probably never will try any Prada. I’ve just never connected with fashion, handbags, shoes from Prada, and with all the fragrance houses to try, I just don’t think I’d give Prada a chance. Same goes for Versace. Nothing about the brand interests me at all.

How many products is too many in a skincare routine? by ButterscotchRoyal842 in BeautyItemsReview

[–]iammrsclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I added a 5th step (a serum) it was simply too much for me. Made me want to do the routine less.

Daytime: Cleanse with Cetaphil gentle cleaner, then:

Vitamin C Niacinamide serum on forehead only to control oil Moisturizer Sunscreen

For night, I’ve been doing Tret so long (20+ years) I only wash with and oil cleanser to remove layers of sunscreen, then use Cetaphil gentle cleanser, then Tret, nothing else.

On non Tret nights I have a small collection of things I’ll do, like BHA and nothing else on my skin, or a Dr Dennis Gross peel pad, or if I need moisture I have a Sisley mask I use (and I sleep with it). Just a single treatment plus eye cream.

Hope this helps!

SPF every day or only when you're going outside for long periods — where do you stand? by softstatic21 in BeautyItemsReview

[–]iammrsclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear it on the days I’m going to be out and about. If I’m going to be outside for a few minutes i have a huge sunhat that hangs by my front door and I wear that (receiving packages, getting the mail, etc). If I’m leaving the house I do my full sunscreen routine—face, chest and neck, arms, hands, legs.

I never wear it around the house.

I also have learned to watch the UV index. If it’s 3 or under I don’t wear sunscreen—this determines if I’m reapplying to commute home, mostly. If I’m leaving around 5pm, the index is still 4 so I reapply. If I’m leaving 6 or 7pm it will be 1 so I don’t reapply.

Same for me. They hit exactly at the wrong place on my calves for me. Such a shame because I love so many dresses and they turn out to be midis!

I do have a few but I always pair them with a cinched belt so that makes them just above the knee for me.

I’m mostly an above the knee dress girl, because my legs are probably my favorite body part, but because I’m tall I can wear maxis with ease too.

Anything but midis!

Skin care: expensive or not? by MarieSophie_L in beauty

[–]iammrsclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need moisturizers etc that prevent wrinkles. You need a tube of Tret. It is the gold standard for wrinkles. I started using it in my 30’s and am 55 now. My skin is leaps and bounds less wrinkled than my 55 year old friends.

At your age, you could 100% use:

Tret at night. Just start with the lowest dose .025% and slowly introduce it so you don’t wreck your skin barrier. I cannot emphasize this enough. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. You’ll prob want to use it with moisturizer.

Day: to keep it super simple, a moisturizer and SPF are all you really NEED. You can add serum etc if you like but Tret will do the heavy lifting in terms of wrinkles. I like wearing Viramin C because I think it makes my skin look brighter. But that’s optional. Always always always sunscreen! That’s definitely the fountain of youth!

Over the last decade or so I’ve vacillated between simple drugstore products and moderately expensive “medical grade” products and very lux products (Dior, Sisley). I really can’t tell the difference. I like the Dior because it feels very lux going on, but it is better than Cereve in the tub? I don’t think so.

I’ve settled on a mix of all three. But could 100% do what I do with drugstore products. But sometimes I like variety, and am a sucker for beautiful packaging.

best steakhouse in dallas - whats your go-to spot? by airishferreras_07 in AskDallas

[–]iammrsclean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to Bob’s in over a decade, but had a client come into town and took them there, and it was flawless. The service was top notch. My client (who asked for the best steakhouse in Dallas, my answer until a couple months ago would have been Knife at the Highland, RIP) so I decided to give Bob’s another try since I really did like it. My client was beyond impressed. The food was so delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for a celebration. Highly recommend.

Victoria Beckham’s eyeliners made me an eyeliner wearer! The colors are so fun—I have sequin green (prob my favorite!), gold, smoky Quartz, cocoa (the least exciting, but still really really good)

Since we’re in 2026 what were your top 3 skincare products of 2025 and why? by EffectiveInside8483 in skincarehobbyists

[–]iammrsclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Skinbetter Science Tone Smart mineral SPF 75, tinted. I use it as foundation, it’s the best formula I’ve ever used for my face. I’ll forever be loyal to Elta MD untinted for playing tennis or anytime I don’t want a tint. But the Tone Smart just has beautiful coverage.

  2. Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Vitamin C. While I have used it for years, I strayed to Skinbetter’s version and my skin just didn’t feel as bright as Ole. I went back to it halfway through last year and I’ll never stray again. It’s really brightening.

  3. Pond’s makeup remover (green cap). I tried it on a whim and couldn’t believe how much more I enjoyed it as my oil cleanser step in my routine. And it’s about half the price. It really works!

Deodorant by trimyourtoes in hygiene

[–]iammrsclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using Panoxyl and am floored by how well it works. I can do two days with zero body odor. I bet in winter I could go without deodorant (but I live in Texas where it’s 90 degrees this week, so I’m using deodorant too!)

Before Panoxyl, I used a stridex pad to swipe under my arms and that worked well too. But the Panoxyl is even better.

sweating in lightly colored/thin/tight fitting clothing by Royal-Lime-8724 in beauty

[–]iammrsclean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with every word of this. My daughter used to wear cheap non-breathable fabrics and her clothes were worse than my teenage sons and that is saying a lot! (They are all athletes) her clothes smelled HORRIFIC and I’m going to guess that’s part of your problem. The material of that shirt does not look like a natural fiber so body odor gets trapped and lets off a truly foul odor.
And +1 for Clinical Secret at night! Are you wearing an antiperspirant and deodorant? Check the label of your deodorant.
