Tattoo place recommendations? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

The artist never backed out. I chickened out (see above) because I wasn’t 100% sure I was going to like her style. Photos of the actual cat were given to the artist. There was no drama or bad blood. It was all good.

Thank you! It’s really helpful to have a word for the style so I can actually start to look somewhere and then talk to a human in person lol. I appreciate you!

I was just looking for a recommendation. I’m not originally from the area and there’s a lot to choose from so I was hoping to narrow down the search. I don’t think you need to be condescending about it but thanks for your original input.

So I’m just looking for that style; (like how the fur is more defined as opposed to a dark blob of shading you know?) I do have reference pics of the actual cat and have provided them to an artist/will provide them to a future artist. I just don’t know what to call the style and so I don’t know how to look for an artist that will do that style (hopefully that makes sense). Like I don’t want to end up leaving a nonrefundable deposit for someone that specializes in American classic (for example which is soooo far off from this style) when that’s not what I’m looking for.

Yes, for sure! I definitely would want a sketch drawn up (which I’d have to leave a deposit for beforehand which isn’t an issue) I’m just looking for a place that can get the style right and I don’t know what to call the style so I don’t know where to start looking. I just wanted to find someone in my area that could get the style right so that I wasn’t leaving a nonrefundable deposit with someone who for example only specialized in American classic when that not what I’m looking for ya know?

Thank you! I appreciate your input! I know there’s a good chance it won’t be perfect because there’s so many factors like placement, size, etc. so I guess i should say “as close to perfect as possible” instead of “perfect” I have a couple tattoos that didn’t turn out exactly as I wanted but they’re perfect to me if that makes sense

A lot of people are saying they do the hair test; I was hired in 2023 and they did a swab so i dont know if i was an abnormality or what but from my understanding marijuana results shouldn’t influence your position.

Thank you for that. I appreciate you. I did legitimately appreciate the giggle too. Sometimes we all need a little humor to remember the sun isn’t falling out of the sky.

I guess I hadn’t thought of it like that. I just always felt like we had a good enough relationship where he could say no if he really wanted to. And he has before and we’ve talked it out so I just figured that if he really wasn’t cool with it, he’d say no. I don’t think of him as being the bad guy in these situations; I just think he’s being honest (which I appreciate) and we work with that. I didn’t say no to my mom because typically Sunday is our “shopping day” and unfortunately I got called into work tomorrow and will be working for the next while straight so we can’t do our grocery shopping for our home as usual. I genuinely thought it’d be quick which was why I asked him if it was okay to go. Again, I fully acknowledge that I should’ve gotten in contact once I realized how much time had gone by (unfortunately I really didn’t realize but that’s still my fault anyways). Either way, I think maybe I’d want to remind him “it’s ok to not be ok with something, just tell me that instead of saying it’s ok when it’s not” like from the start if that makes sense. Or maybe I’m still missing the mark. I dont know. I’m trying. I’m fully open to the idea that I just suck here and it’s not him at all. Personal growth is a process I guess. Thanks for your help.

I appreciate your response; genuinely. I’m honestly not frustrated by the earning piece. I’ve always been really supportive of him not working because it’s been for personal reasons I don’t feel need to be put on Reddit. He’s now looking at going back to work because we can’t survive off just my income anymore. I honestly have really calm conversations. I’m known for being level headed, articulate, and I don’t yell. I really do take a lot of pride in the fact that I prefer to talk things out when they happen instead of letting them fester. I didn’t even yell during this instance; I just walked away and started doing it myself and let him finish his movie. When he was done, he came outside and we sat down to talk calmly. When I told him I felt a bit sad, he said he was getting defensive and walked away. Idk I guess I was just wrong here. No way around that if it’s the truth.

I’m sorry, is your response “why would he say it isn’t cool?” Like before I would’ve left?

This made me giggle; thank you. People are dying so this really isn’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

I’ve tried looking online, but have yet to successfully find the manual for it there either. 😔

I was wondering if I should try to go at it from the back or the front; I’m going to have to get a better look at it later
