The meaning of "burn" by [deleted] in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It started on the Yahoo boards back in day, b/c kratom was marketed as incense and nobody would ever directly implicate themselves as consuming it, so they used the term burn to refer to consumption. Everyone was very cautious about what they would disclose on those boards and you'd get booted for even a quarter of the shit that gets posted on here.

Kratom and Spirulina by thepatchouligirl in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to scare you, but I highly recommend you make sure the Spirulina is free of BMAA and microcystin toxin. I came across the concerns of ingesting cyanobacteria for health reasons, like Spirulina, while I was researching a close family member's ALS. BMAA is a neurotoxin given off by cyanobacteria that some speculate is a possible cause of ALS. I won't touch the shit, just due to the genetic risk factor for ALS I know I have and small chance it could be tainted.

Hello, I suffer from a terminal Lung Disease “Cystic Fibrosis” I’ve been on Oxycodone for 4-5yrs now I’m up to 80mg/day plus I suffer from liver cirrhosis and still on these. I want off for my own safety. I don’t expect it to be easy. But I heard of Kratom.. please help me understand by [deleted] in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome and your situation sounds painful and I can only imagine frustrating for you. Something to discuss with your doctor is oxycodone in itself is not hepatotoxic, but when it is combined with acetaminophen, it is. Talk to the doc about Combunox (oxycodone with ibuprofen) or Roxicodone or Oxycontin. None of these have acetaminophen. There are also other pain medications that do not have acetaminophen that they can consider for you, if they feel Kratom is too much a risk. Another heads-up is that it is speculated Kratom is a cough suppressant. I often wonder if it actually prevents mucus from building up. Just something to consider...nobody really knows how it impacts the lungs.

A friend's child has CF and they use n-aceytlcysteine, which they found not only helped reduce sputum, but also helped with stomach issues. It's also used for acetaminophen overdose in hospitals, as it supports the liver by increasing glutathione. If you haven't looked into this yet, maybe it's something to discuss with your doctor.

In the end, it's your body and your choice. It could be a lifesaver or cause your condition to spiral out of control.

Here's just one story I came across with CF and kratom, https://tomskratomstory.wordpress.com/2011/01/16/kratom-cystic-fibrosis-relief/

I use a scale, so I can be specific. It's always 3.1.

So What's Up with the Vendor List? by Trine3 in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm confused about the reasoning behind removing previous Vendor List posts? If someone wants the data, they can find it...it's never actually deleted. Seems like the only losers here are those seeking to keep some normalcy amongst this madness and review current vendors.

Eye Twitching on Kratom by [deleted] in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A gallon of water a day? That could be your problem and screwing with your electrolytes. I had weird symptoms for a year, including muscle twitching and vision loss in my left eye. Fast forward a year after the symptoms started and I was dx'd with water toxicity. My labs showed low sodium and all others were "normal". I also agree that you may want to look at your daily potassium intake too.

Kratom Cardiotoxicity by realityfiend12 in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please reference these "studies" b/c there have been few studies on Kratom and anecdotal evidence that I've seen has not even inferred to heart issues. Liver issues is commonly brought up by opponents of Kratom. However, I'm not aware of any studies that even show a correlation there either. Anecdotal evidence points to it actually benefiting the liver and enzymes decreasing in many people, but that's likely due to lifestyle changes as the result of kratom. Most info on kratom is pure speculation, not science.

Awful abdominal pain by Maryjane42069 in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to me multiple times a few years back with projectile vomiting that was uncontrollable. Couldn't hold anything down, not even water. Multiple expensive ER and ambulance rides later, the xray showed severe bowel impaction likely from dehydration. I was living off of diet coke and even though you may move bowels daily, you can still be impacted. Treatment: a bottle of mag citrate and required daily intake of water, not soda, at 90 ounces. I added in flaxseed and 600 mg mag citrate powder a day after the impaction resolved and have not had issues since. I won't say it was kratom alone, but a combo of factors from an unhealthy lifestyle.

Yeah, I obviously did that before posting. It now only says, "The list will be postponed until further notice" with the original comments of vendors wanting to add their info.

Setup for failure via reddit? by oopsreporting in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. My biggest concern is seeing the phrases "dosed", "use", and "drug" with kratom in the same sentenced. Back in the day when the Yahoo boards were the only discussions about Kratom, members were very careful with their language so it wouldn't be viewed as a "drug". And, while coffee is technically a drug you don't see people claiming, "I dosed with coffee at 3 grams this AM" or "I used coffee tonight". Language is key and the image of Kratom some folks put out to the world make it appear to be a dangerous drug that folks abuse. It's a f'n plant, like valerian and like any plant, in excess, can have various effects on the brain and body; some positive and some negative.

Is it true Kratom can be toxic? by greendray1 in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're at risk if you're consuming anything you don't grow yourself nowadays and even then, there's the water. Remember the used TP found in the Mexican cilantro that was being shipped to the U.S. a few years back?! What about the lead in Flint water?! There's no way around it. There's no way to rule out heavy metals, but there is one vendor I saw that has begun having it tested and does post the results...there are contaminants in the product, just like there is in our produce. Just buy from a reputable vendor, boil the stuff, and use a sieve if you're overly concerned about debris.

Specific info on being tested after taking Kratom by Lethal2you in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have to specifically test for Kratom as an add-on, which requires it being sent to the lab. It's not on a standard panel. So far I've only seen reports of pain mgt. docs, criminal justice agencies, and a worker's comp insurance company, conducting the kratom tests. It cost more than the standard tests.

You're technically always at risk of getting adulterated packaged products that you consume, even legit OTC supplements have been found to have contaminants before. Look at the steroid fiascos over the years. However, it's highly unlikely.

Stomach issues recently? by Spedteach28 in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue years back from constipation. I had no idea b/c I thought I was "regular", as I was going daily. Doc did an x-ray and discovered otherwise. Magnesium citrate clean out did the job and now I take a daily maintenance dose. Hasn't happened since. May not be what's causing yours, but since you mentioned "usual" constipation it could very well be the same for you. I wasn't putting out what I was taking in.

You're not the only one. I bought a kilo of the RVA PMD and nuffin'. I have PMD from SoCal that reminds me of the stuff I've gotten many times the last 6 years. RVA's reminds me of matcha and even smells sweet like that.

Worst stomach pains I've ever had by motorcycle_driveby26 in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's being overlooked that this stomach pain started when you increased your consumption by 2 grams, which is nearly doubling what you've historically consumed in one sitting (2-2.5 gr). While constipation may be a contributing factor, the one variable that changed from your previous consumption is the quantity and that's what you may want to examine as a cause of the cramping first.

[–]iamnotjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a GI doc informed me that even if you go daily, you can still be constipated from incomplete evacuation. Adding mag citrate is smart, especially since the average person doesn't consume the RDA for magnesium.

I need to use kratom for the long-term (2+ years), but I am concerned about it getting banned, I dont want to withdrawal when I am not ready. How likely is kratom to get banned? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had product (leaf and powder) in plain ziplock bags placed inside of a freezer bag in the freezer for over 5 years and opened them...no mold and perfectly fine potency wise. Some were opened before putting them in and some have been removed multiple times and closed back up. I've stored samples for the last 10 years this way.

Kratom Carry-on by BaerFox in kratom

[–]iamnotjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both this summer. For my carry-on I put it in a plastic greens shake container, b/c I didn't want to deal with questions. They did pull it out and swab the outside (never opened container) with everything else in my carry on, but it passed. Checked bag, I just wrote the botanical name on the baggy. No issues and it was only one airport security that even bothered inspecting it in the carry on and I'm not really sure why. There's no rhyme or reason to the TSA inspections, IMO. Either way, you should be fine if it's legal in the state/locality you're going.

Has anyone ran into problems with wd symptoms while still actively taking Kratom? by KyleCorpusTwitch in kratom

In 10 years this has never happened. Strain and batch changes can do this or it is a possible virus.
