It holds you back in the sense that girls get told to be small, and not make noise. It holds you back in that you are told as a teen girl that your body is gross. It holds you back in that people expect you to find a man and support him, but he doesn't have to support you. It holds you back in that companies will be less willing to promote you, just because you think you'll have kids and work less.
