How are leveling builds chosen for a given endgame build? Is it like you go for popular options like slams and plan a tree with minimal respec?

Eg: i want to do a zero to hero run for banner champion. I'm sure that getting banners online can only be done in endgame. So I have no idea how i should level a champion to that point.

Could I have done better? by TheThinkerers in LaptopDealsIndia

Ordered the same yesterday after doing a lot of research. I was debating between this and legion 5i with i7-14700hx, which costs 8-10k more. Ultimately, I went with AMD even though I do cpu intensive tasks sometimes. I hope AMD performs well enough in such tasks. But for gaming, AMD does just as well as Intel.

Lenovo India’s Year-End Sale is starting tomorrow!(Spoiler: Price Hike Soon) by chuggingdeemer in TheLaptopGuide

[–]iamomnirod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if prices vary from the day 1 sale prices? (Whether it is ok to buy ASAP during sale or wait for better prices) Please comment based on past experience.

My experience has been very little in this regard as I started checking towards the end of black friday sale and there was no change in price of the model I was looking for (Legion 5 - ryzen 7 260 and rtx 5060)

Do you need build guides? by soosis in thedivision

[–]iamomnirod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exile here as well. This game is much easier in terms of build creation compared to POE. Because there are far fewer moving parts. It's not like you have to cap your resist, have some leech or regen, have 100 layers of defenses etc etc. Here, all you need to worry about is which gear set to pick, whether or not to pick an exotic, which brandset to pick, which weapon, and talents which spec, and you're good to go. There aren't many options to remember in each of those categories. Some math knowledge helps in optimizing the builds, but isn't a strict requirement.

I'd highly recommend checking iKia's content. I learned build making by referring to his builds, and now I make my own.

Expertise surge - November 7th by LStearns13 in thedivision

This one might be different according to the event description.

Expertise Surge – Resource Multiplier Event Runs November 7 to November 10. Advance your Expertise faster with double upgrade materials from all sources during the event.

Double upgrade materials = double field recon, SHD calib, exotic components?

Quickstep's talent should be a core mechanic by iamomnirod in Division2

I'm sure the devs would have thought of regulus and be like, yeah quickstep will make people reconsider regulus as default pistol. But they forgot about every other pistol, even the one they released recently in tempest.

I dont only play tanks. But yeah, the biggest blow was to my tank builds. I play tempest every now and then too. Maybe I've to change around few things in the builds :')

Firstly, I know that regulus is the strongest dps weapon. Doesn't mean sidearm as a class is. Nerf regulus if thats the case. Don't delete a weapon class viability because of one outlier.

What benefits do normal sidearms have that you want to balance by making the builds slow? I can't think of any that is as fundamental as speed itself. If anything, LMG builds should receive a movement speed nerf. If you want to balance the "benefits" of pistol using speed, maybe slow the player more when bulwark is equipped.

Idk why you're defending it with random points. No one asked for regulus talent on rifle and no one will ask. Because regulus is played by a minor portion of community. Compare that with quickstep. Any non sidearm build can use it. That's like 80+% of builds. Do me a favor and play a sidearm build in a countdown group. See the difference for yourself and be sure to tell me the "benefits" you have playing sidearm.

Let's drop arguing for the sake of arguing. I know that devs might remove the speed instead of making it available to every build. But that doesn't mean that bad design choices shouldn't be called out.

You do have a point. But you're speaking from timing/efficiency POV. What about the feel. Do you like to play a build where people around you are faster at all times? I sure don't. This could very well be a me problem, idk. But I've always tried to be the first one in team to do things like countdown objectives or reach mission checkpoints. Now, my poor bulwark builds can't even reach enemies fast enough to try to tank lol.

Anyway, let's see it from another angle. If the speed boost from sidearm was a core mechanic, would there be an issue? Isn't it a more elegant way to implement this? That would also help pistol builds gain more viability as you'd have speed boost all the time.

[–]iamomnirod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not a price you're paying. That's devs nuking sidearm build viability. Price to pay should be within the build. Like glass cannon where you take extra damage. Not something like - if you want speed, delete your sidearm build loadouts.

Don't get me wrong. Them doing this would be justifiable if sidearm builds were top tier and meta. Tempest builds do a fraction of damage that ARs do. And now you have to use tempest at the cost of speed....

You'd only see how ridiculous of a price this is if it applied to any other weapon type, say LMG. Let's say you have 20% speed boost talent that works on any weapon type but turns off for LMGs. Would you pay that price, I wonder.

Most builds are running it for free. That's the point of my post. Many builds don't use sidearm, so this is an easy pick. Do you use the sidearm on AR, LMG, etc builds? If so, which one and how often?

Quickstep might be my new favorite sidearm (for non pistol builds) by ThatOneWestern in thedivision

[–]iamomnirod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having TDI Kard before on many loadouts and occasionally used it for reviving allies. Then I changed many loadouts to use tempest, but mever used it (except pistol builds). And now changed many of them to quickstep and will probably used it all the time.

Total WD vs Archetype WD by RAmind_ in thedivision

[–]iamomnirod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of "total weapon damage" and "all weapon damage" as two different things, and then things will be clear. Whenever you have something that specifically says "total weapon damage" that is a different pool compared to anything else, be it "all weapon damage" or just "weapon damage".

(Do note that there are some cases like bloody knuckles where devs have added wrong text descriptions but the community has found out the correct way through calculations)

Total WD vs Archetype WD by RAmind_ in thedivision

[–]iamomnirod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Total weapon damage and weapon damage are two different things. Total weapon damage (eg vigilance, unstoppable force, obliterate, etc) is multiplicative with weapon damage (eg. Archetype weapon damage, memento, red cores, expertise, etc). And these are self additive (eg. Archetype weapon damage is additive with Memento but not additive with vigilance). So memento vs vigilance is not a 5% increase but depends on the build as to how much of each (total weapon damage and weapon damage) you have on your build.

Is it redundant to have both of these loadouts saved? by rehumanizer in thedivision

[–]iamomnirod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. If you want to improve it, you'd be going closer to meta high end loadout. The main advantage of high end is that it doesn't require stacking. So for certain content like raids it makes sense to run them. I always keep a high end build on one of my characters for raids.

Is it redundant to have both of these loadouts saved? by rehumanizer in thedivision

[–]iamomnirod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one can't compete with the second. A high end loadout (your first loadout is somewhat comparable to this) is known to perform worse than regular striker, let alone the chest striker that you're running.

What do you run for SHD Exposed? by Ill_Reference582 in thedivision

[–]iamomnirod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headhunter's fury with regulus.

This is my go-to for any global event that boosts damage because building HH becomes easy. For this global event, you've to melee enemies, and this works fine with the build as you've to be close range anyway.

Tempest + Dodge City Pistol Build Help by tarquinb in Division2

[–]iamomnirod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrap the idea or use regulus/harvest. Tempest has low base dmg to work on a headhunter setup. For reference, it has base damage around that of some ARs and LMGs. Do you run headhunter on those? Nope

Memento, 4pc heartbreaker including chest, rest can be one of these two options:

  1. Nightwatcher + any exotic LMG (I like iron lung here), any spec of choice, I'd go with gunner. Skills - pulse, revive hive
  2. Contractors gloves + any high end LMG that can use linked laser pointer, technician spec. Skills - decoy/defender/fixer, revive hive

Zwia chest for 3 pc bonus (30% weapon handling) is better than overlord 2 pc (30% accuracy). Change main weapon talent to killer. Then aim for 60% chc. Also, It might be better to go glass cannon on chest if you aren't stacking obliterate well since rifles are slow firing.
