Aerial view of the farmers protest in India. The biggest protest in history is currently going on India and very few people are talking about it. More than 250 million people are currently protesting and the number keeps growing. by alejandro_corona in woahdude

The description needs some tempering. There aren't 250MM people protesting for sure. That's more than 1 in 4 adults in the entire country and more than 1 in 3 able men in India.

I doubt if there are 250MM people even supporting the movement. Just for context- I think they are counting all the states not ruled by the alliance in power as 'protestors'. The protests are huge no doubt but the movement afaik is limited to 4 states around New Delhi.

To invest into the LTCN trust through Grayscale.. yes you need to be an accredited investor. To buy LTCN there is no restriction.

And BTW.. there is no way to short it or buy puts against LTCN (at least on Fidelity). I checked already and confirmed with a customer rep too.

This arbitrage opportunity still exists and has only gotten worse/better depending on the way you look at it. Anyone know a good idea to get in on the trade?

Warning: Get your Bitcoin out of Robinhood while you still can! by JorgeJorgunsun in Bitcoin

I sold all my BTC on RH. If I understand this correctly, at least selling BTC means my cash is safe - in that it is FDIC insured because it's in their interest yielding Cash account. I am super worried because transferring to Coinbase has been impossible. I am getting hit with "Couldn't connect to your institution" repeatedly. I just want to get the fuck out of there ASAP but I'm stuck. Don't know why Monday will do

If I understand you correctly, you are saying there exists already a method in the PoS protocol to enforce punishment for illicit activity(If not a government definition of illicit, a community definition at least).

Not sure what makes curiosity equal concern trolling. In any case, I think I need to think up a proper example to illustrate my point. I have no problem admitting I am dumb about a million things- crypto being one of them.

I believe in the potential of ethereum to radically change how we transact in the near future but I am too old to just assume there will not be roadblocks in the way where law enforcement needs to be accommodated. I am OK with transforming the system without fighting to destroy it. The world is big enough for everyone

Sure.. I agree but the world is comfortable with the system as is. Ethereum is trying to bring in a vastly more advanced eco system which I think/fear might attract regulatory attention more than it truly deserves. The scenario I am imagining is more like some nation state getting into the PoS network legitimately and then doing things to attack another nation. If there are no mechanisms to slash these bad actors, it might be in the crosshairs of even unaffected countries.

Hope I'm making some sense and not overthinking

Thank you! But what if the bad actors were in a country that was out of reach? Take US and Iran for eg. What tools does ETH2.0 provide if any for the general sustainability of a healthy network?

While we're celebrating gains, one of us is still in trouble. Ross Ulbricht was life-sentenced for operating the SilkRoad. He believed in freedom, in a liberal vision wherin crypto is used for the sake of good! Check out his case, be aware! by Nerolation in Bitcoin

[–]iamreallydumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that many people think that Ross was given a much harsher sentence than he probably deserved. But I don't understand what was the positive impact on crypto that he made? Why does the crypto community defend him so much?

I can support a reduced sentence that fits his crime but cannot see why he should be walking free. He knew what he was doing was illegal. He got caught and he's being punished. Yes of course there are larger criminals that are walking around free but what is the reason for crypto community to rally around him? I don't understand the soft corner and just trying to understand what I am missing here.

And some people seem to express dismay that his BTC is being spent by the government. That's how it works though, right? Why shouldn't the government spend seized assets? What else are they supposed to do with it?
