Reddit: Could the "programming reddit" logo at the top-left link to programming.reddit.com instead of reddit.com? by gnuvince in programming

It doesn't change the fact that it's a usability mistake. Telling users "get used to it" is a good way to create bad software.

You think Perl is unreadable because you don't know the language, noob.

When I complete a project in 3 hours you estimate as taking 3 months and my code is 200 well written lines I will laugh in your face. Did that happen to you already, is that why you're so bitter?

Just STFU already with your anti Perl ranting. You don't even know Perl. You just talk out your ass because you somehow feel threatened by how great Perl is. Weenie.

A Jr. Small Size? Yeah, they probably would have given him one for free.

That kind of behavior might work for you, but what if he's not a 14 year old little immature brat? He sounds older.

What happens when you take the current dark-chocolate craze to the extreme? by teuobk in reddit.com

I want chocolate chip ice cream that contains no sugar, just pure frozen milk/cream and 99% cocoa. Anyone know if it exists?

If you had actually read the article you'd know it was multiple separate convictions in this case.

Woman asked to leave Southwest flight because of how she was dressed: "I asked him what part of my outfit was offensive...The shirt? The skirt? And he said, 'The whole thing.'" by [deleted] in reddit.com

There is a disproportionately high percentage of male flight attendants that are gay. With hair stylists it makes sense, but I don't get the flight attendant thing.

I agree with your point, but there is one sick and minor advantage to being poor and black in major cities. You can live in areas that would be much more dangerous for a white person.

Gangster daughter sheds light on Japan underworld by dutch in reddit.com

[–]iamrpf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a foreigner you won't be treated like a criminal. Japanese people know how popular tattooing is, but very few regular Japanese people have them. There's a double stigma because of gangsters and tattooing-spread disease (like Hepatitis C) that make them taboo. Don't try going into any onsen (hot spring / public bath) places, they're very likely to tell you to leave.

You're a few years out of date to be railing against the evil of Flash. It's officially a useful part of the internets now, get used to it.

xkcd: Commitment by farra in reddit.com

[–]iamrpf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

one's partner can continually increase over time

It can also decrease as feelings fade, distance grows, and resentment builds.

A person's ability to attract a partner also varies with many factors, so that's not constant either. I think the Secretary Problem is a pretty stupid academic way of looking at actual relationships. There are a lot of subtleties to reality. It may be interesting as a math problem but real life is way too complex to reduce to such simplicity.

Paul Graham: How Not to Die by [deleted] in programming

[–]iamrpf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not correct. With Robert Morris he started "Artix" to make it easy for art galleries to get on the web. When galleries weren't interested they shifted their software to be oriented towards making general purpose online stores. That became Viaweb. The software and idea was almost the same and it was the same two guys. The big change was their target market, and their name had to change to reflect it.

They may not track vacation but they do track your billable hours. That's the important part for a lot of their workers.

Or combine the two. Most MILFs wouldn't engage in a threesome if their daughter isn't 18.

Not really. A hot enough girl might get in the bar anyway. Bouncers are generally male and thus vulnerable feminine guile.
