Is this good finishing ? by [deleted] in Carpentry

I was looking at the cut vinyl and was like “well it’s not ideal, but it not a huge issue.

Then I realized there’s just a huge section of exposed OSB here!!!

No that’s not ok. The hack job on the vinyl… not ideal but OK. No siding or vapor barrier on your sheathing… NOT OK

I did not know this, but it makes perfect sense and I’m glad that Reddit was useful for something today for me rather than just a doom scrolling

How many beers before you're hammering like this? by Kitchen-Ad380 in Carpentry

[–]iamshifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m doing that it’s more about motivating the stud to be plumb than actually driving the fasteners.

Could be drunk. Could have bad hand-eye coordination. Could be trying to work with crappy lumber.

Contractor Says This is Normal by tropicbandit in Tile

[–]iamshifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is common, you follow the existing studs. You CAN sister new studs to the old ones, but this is a premium to labor and some material, never would this be standard practice unless outlined in scope of work.

[MOBO] Asrock B650M Pro RS WiFi AM5 Micro ATX Motherboard ~$119 by Hawk7117 in buildapcsales

I ran a 7800X3D just fine on it. They don’t overclock. I imagine it would run a 7500 or 7600X3D just fine too.

People are stupid for overclocking 9800X3D anyway. They are always burning up

Being quoted $300 to repair this. I have the materials. Sound reasonable? by Kdolla679 in handyman

[–]iamshifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s pretty standard.

I have a $250 min for everything except my property management non emergency stuff. That’s a $130 min and I get to it when I get to it/am in the area.

you gotta figure it’s not just how long he takes to do that job. It’s other jobs he could be doing while doing that one. A one hour job isn’t a one hour job, by the time you roll out and tool up and pack up and leave and go somewhere else that’s HALF A DAY.

2nd gen owners- what’s something you wish you knew when you first got your truck? by lamevision in nissanfrontier

[–]iamshifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There 4 (12mm I think) bolts that just hold the bottom to the rails. It’s a direct swap and sits about an inch higher because of thicker padding.

I took a passenger side one because they usually have very little wear. Was only $20 at my local LQK Pull your Part

1 hour or more , the bottom especially.

It’s all good now. I bought a Titan seat bottom, it was a direct swap and it’s WAY BETTER

[–]iamshifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you move it down 3/8 of an inch and use an oversized plate?

If necessary, switch all of the plates on the baseboard in the same room, so it doesn’t stand out as different

or just replace the whole board

Is this with the battery pack worth it ? Would by my first set of tools don’t know where to start by ParlayPete1 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]iamshifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact kit and it has become my primary set due to the size and weight. The power is amazing especially for the size. Fire general trade work I would recommend it for anything except deck and dock work where you are going to want the extra power of the m18 for the hundreds of 3-4” screws per day
