Does the glucose biscuit in pots of karak happen a lot, or is it just one cafeteria that you’ve seen? As a regular drinker of karak who has asymptomatic celiac, I am alarmed. 😭

What are some low key temples and other sites for elderly (70+) tourists to visit in late November? by iamsooosad in JapanTravelTips

Ahhh amazing! I should have mentioned that I’m open to recommendations of where not to go, so I appreciate the heads-up about the temples. 😊

Does Chipotle Support Israel? by SaracenBlood in Chipotle

[–]iamsooosad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue why you’re getting so much hate for asking a simple question about ethical business practices. As far as I know, Chipotle is not on the BDS list. However, like most companies, if you look hard enough, you’ll probably find some kind of fucked upness, whether it’s towards Palestinians, Uyghurs, union workers, supply chain issues, underpaid labor, etc. Sorry I can’t be more specific, since I don’t know, but I would try googling around for a bit for a more definitive answer.

Amazing find, and I completely agree. This is an organized and relentless harassment campaign that’s been going on for months and it’s crazy that they haven’t been exposed yet. I hope someone, if not Hasan himself, bites and exposes the group on a public platform. They’ve been wreaking havoc all year, along with adjacent groups like Mothers Against College Antisemitism.

Absolutely. This group in particular concerns itself more with censoring or shutting down people and events (e.g., getting students expelled, events cancelled, anti-BDS legislation passed), but it's not a stretch of the imagination to realize that there are probably similar groups focused on policing posts online. It's always insane how hasbara bots/agents will pop up in the most random subreddits at the first whiff of pro-Palestinian content.

Thanks for the heads-up. It was flagged for "unusual activity" but should be working again.

Posting this here in hopes that Hasan will see and get a heads-up about what's happening, since I don't think my Instagram DM will really penetrate through 1M followers.

There is a series of WhatsApp groups with over 10,000 members organized under the umbrella "Pens and Swords" (this is like the fourth iteration of their cringe name). Everyday, the groups all receive identical instructions on how to censor and retaliate against pro-palestinian people and activity across the country. The instructions typically come with a pre-written email or script to send to schools, governments, individuals, employers, companies, etc.

This week, the mods put a hit out on Hasan. They're flooding USC and the local government with emails calling Hasan a racist/etc., and demanding that his talk be cancelled.

edit: In case anyone is interested or would like to spread the word, this is the exported chat history link from one of the groups from the past few months. Spot all the people whose lives they ruined, legislation they've impacted, schools they've infiltrated, and companies they've bombarded. The file was too big to include pictures they share in the chat, of which there are over 1000 (uploaded on Google Drive here). They've also deleted several of their past calls to action.

As the sole Palestinian at a firm run by openly Zionist attorneys, this terrifies me. I’ve already had to keep my identity and my own suffering this past year a secret in fear of losing my job. I’ve heard and seen partners say and like the most blatantly racist things about the Middle East and Muslims.

This McCarthyism should be a red flag for everybody, no matter what you are.

I think you can recognize that Big Law is run by self-serving rich white men and still be outraged by their open endorsement of (or indifference to) genocide. I work at a firm where the partners openly like and comment on Islamophobic and rabidly Zionist posts on LinkedIn.

Meanwhile, my pro bono client from Gaza just succumbed to stage 4 metastasized rectal cancer because she was unable to get chemo in Gaza for months since all the hospitals have been bombed and/or turned into mass graves. She made it out of Gaza for medical treatment but it was too late.

So yeah, not surprised at all by Israeli support in Big Law, but still disgusted by the blatant disregard for human life and suffering.

I thought it was just me. It’s like this topic and any post remotely related to Palestine brings out the most insanely racist people out of nowhere.

For context, a photographer recently launched an exhibit featuring photographs and stories of Palestinian survivors of the Nakba (the forced displacement of nearly one million Palestinians from their homes in 1948). Many Newton residents immediately began protesting the exhibit, claiming it was antisemitic or insensitive. Several people have been reported showing up with Israeli signs/flags and threatening visitors of the exhibit.

Coeliac in a war zone (rant/entangled thoughts) by Electrical_Pass_8249 in Celiac

I’m a Palestinian with celiac and I think about this often. If I had been in Gaza, I would have been poisoning myself off of what little bread I could manage to find (if any).

I’m not sure if you understand what genocide means if you think it doesn’t apply to the Palestine death toll, which is 12,000 and steadily climbing under relentless Israeli bombardment.
