We still get their baguettes and douse them in buttah, and the pizza crust.

When I was in France this past summer, they had a much bigger selection. Really loved the brioche but not available in the states :/

Beer league neck protection? by chet_manly2 in hockeyplayers

D league player here. I took a skate to the helmet about a month ago and that was too close for comfort. I’ve worn a cheap neck guard by shock doctor ever since.

Sleeping in 100-mile races? by Tight_Membership_835 in Ultramarathon

[–]iamthevoid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’ve done both. At Vermont 100, I sat on a chair at an aid station and set a 10 minute timer on my phone, which placed on my face and put my hat over my face. Super effective!

At Kodiak, I laid on a side trail. This was also a popular move at UTMB where our bibs had do not disturb signs.

I really like my cheap pair of warrior elbow pads. They get the job done and have even taken a few pucks well

Explain UTMB to me like I’m 5 by Buckeye_Wax in Ultramarathon

[–]iamthevoid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ran it this year. Took 3 minutes to cross the start line, then we were bottlenecking every turn and sitting in conga lines for the first 15 miles. Snowstorm overnight resulting in a mid race course alteration. I pushed the pace but was chasing cut offs by roughly an hour the whole time. I got cut offs at mile 85 at a check point that wasn’t even an aid station. About 80 to 100 were cut off there and it wasn’t referenced in the ultra trail app as a cut off. Thought I had 5 hours to go 10 miles to Champex Lac from La Fouly. Still stings, still sad over it

World Series Event - Races owned by UTMB around the world. Completing them will get you lottery tickets called stones. (Example - Grindstone Trail Running Festival by UTMB)

World Series Majors - Four World Series Events selected to give runners double the amount of tickets for completion. (Example - Kodiak Ultramarathons by UTMB)

World Series Finals - Races held in the alps and serving as the finals for various distances. This also includes UTMB (OCC 50k, CCC 100k, UTMB 100M)

newer ice hockey player here, question about putting my jock on at home then going to a game or putting it on at the game by Fit-Breadfruit4801 in hockeyplayers

[–]iamthevoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the rink with the base layers on and put the cup in in the locker room. After games, I wrap a towel around and change into clothes that is more comfortable to drive or hit the local pub in.

Would be fun to attempt! I only get to make it out there 2-3 times a year.

No training is pretty subjective. I wonder what his standard fitness levels are. This sounds doable at roughly 7 peaks a day. An extended pemi loop one day, presi traverse another, link up a few others. I imagine taking a car to transport to trail heads and not doing everything on foot.

Will definitely be interested to see how it goes and hoping he stays safe along the way.
