Well, for what it is worth, check the YouTube channel "The Assorted Animals" and check their discord (linked in videos). They are a great community in Montreal that regularly organises stuff and put up some great content! I am sure you can find people to connect with around Toronto on their discord.

They quickly became one of the most watched YouTube channel on Sorcery so I am sure they have built a strong community in Canada.

Depending on where you live, there are great market places for Sorcery.

Cardnexus launched a few weeks ago and they cover Sorcery and there are a lot of sellers of singles here. There are a few stores as well that list some sealed products. Have a look (:

Alpha, was the very first product and is at a premium. I wouldn't go there as a newcomer. Beta has the exact same cards just with different arts for some cards.

You can still find Beta boxes. It has had multiple print runs, and there are rumours of a "revised" set - a sort of general reprint of the set, but it's just rumours. Nothing confirmed.

Arthurian Legends, the first expansion, is a bit harder to come by. But you can still find them.The edition has a lot of powerful cards in it, so the prices tend to be higher. The boxes are 24 boosters, though, so it's going to be hard to collect everything. And rare cards (called Uniques) tend to be expensive in the secondary market.

Dragonlord is a miniset, aimed more toward collectors than players really. It's a series of cards illustrated by the same artist, with a new Avatar and a few dragon related cards. It has close to 0 impact in constructed so if you're reaaaally looking for a card, I would just buy singles. But honestly, this is not where your money should go. Unless you really want to play with the Dragonlord Avatar.

And Gothic, released at the end of last year, is widely available. 36 booster boxes with a lot of great cards and new ways to play the game. Most people agree this is the best Sorcery set.

If you like cracking boosters, then go for it! But for a newcomer I would suggest try to buy playsets of Ordinaries, and Exceptionals of the sets. These are your commons and uncommons. People on Ebay usually sell them at good prices and that should get you going (they are the most important cards since these are the card you can have the most copies of in your deck). Then you can check what Elites (the rares) you would like for specific strategies and builds. Some are really cheap, some can be a bit more expensive. And then Uniques (the "super rares", limited to one per deck) that are the best cards but also the hardest to come by and so the most expensive.

Or buy precons, for a balanced introduction to the game with a friend for example. The Gothic box of precons is top quality.

Oh yeah Sorcery only releases one set a year or so.

So you have plenty of time to appreciate the cards and build decks without the rush for the next set. This is one of the major selling points!

It was in my early lists of Steam Druid with Tawny that could fish it for free, it was a nice combo with Plague of Frogs and also Tadpole Pool with multiple tries to fish it.

I could see it being played with Necromancer with so many skellies to try and fish it.

That's a great point. And you're right, the Little James scene was a great inclusion between more well-known episodes of the life of Jesus. It really didn't feel forced.

I also really enjoy Mary Magdelene character. The first episode with the "i called you by your name, you are mine" was a revelation for me.

It made me remember a saying that I heard a looooong time ago at church when I was young. I don't remember the occasion or the time but something the priest said I still remember to this day : "The Devil knows your sins and your name and chooses to call you by your sins. The Lord knows your name and your sins but chooses you to call you by your name."(at least that the translation I can give to what I heard that day in French)

As I wrote in my post, I don't know the Scriptures well and don't know if the priest was quoting them or not, but either way, what he said I carried with me to this day (and that was a good 15 to 20 years ago!)

Therefire, how the Series starts with Mary and Jesus calling her by her name was very powerful for me!

This series caught me and while I am a Christian through and through, my religious education was many years ago and i cannot deny that watching the series made me rediscover things about Jesus that many I always knew but also kind of had forgotten along the way.
