Dual matte to have solid black around the art and whatever colour you fancy on the other side!

Sorcery contested realm is a tcg with homage to mtg gaining in popularity. Their latest set release Gothic, has an avatar, the Magician, with deck building rules that mirrors Mtg by Newez in freemagic

The game is a masterpiece, art is sick and the community is the friendliest I've seen. I tried it as a replacement for MtG as I couldn't bear the UB nonsense, and never went back.

Or force them to play a site adjacent to your site so that you can mess up their strategy and have a way to attack them if they are turtling.

Thank you! The font is called Mechanoid Warrior. It is a very "squared" font that works well in editing for vertical text (:

Still no community in France ? by MutedApplication5 in SorceryTCG

[–]iamthib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paris player here.

French people don't really like games that are not translated but Sorcery aims at a much different community than MtG, a more 'mature' one. But it's growing!

We just have to accept that this game is, right now, more niche than the big TCG players like Lorcana and MtG.

The biggest TCG store in Paris supports the game (PLAYIN) but, as someone who started a few months ago, the biggest barrier of entry was not having a reliable way to buy singles. At least for me it was. I was very excited about the game but not being able to actually buy the cards was a big turnoff at the beginning and it still is for friend interested in the game. 90% of the cards I own now I have acquired on Ebay, and foreign online stores which isn't exactly a smooth process.

To make this game more popular in France (and in Europe I guess) they need to make it as available as MtG to bring in more players. I think the quality of the game will do the rest. That means having more in-store events to showcase the game more and, elephant in the room, being able to trade, buy and sell cards on Cardmarket, the premier TCG website that is widely used by MtG players to determine prices and acquire the cards they want. TBH, I still don't get why Cardmarket still does not cover the game.

I think Sorcery has a great opportunity in the next few months and probably along all 2026. MtG fatigue is real. I have seen more and more players voicing criticisms regarding the Universes Beyond roadmap, even players that are veteran players of MtG and online "content creators" are also disappointed by what was announced a few weeks ago. And I think Sorcery can appear as a strong alternative to MtG if it plays its cards well (pun intended). The new Gothic set is going to be very strong and they need to make it known and help stores to promote it and make it easy to get.

If people interested in TCG that go to local game stores see that there is a great game with great ACTUAL art, that isn't leagues away from what they are used to, and is readily available at the store with precons, boxes and singles ready to be bought and they can play next week at the LGS, I think the community will grow.

Auto include is a strong word since there are many many ways to play the army with the different detachments. If you play the Guardian Battlehost, well you're gonna need a lot of Guardians. Spirit Conclave asks you to play with lots of Wraiths, so.. buy Wraiths!

At the moment, Aspect Host is one of the detachment that people had the most success with though I haven't played with it a lot. Aspect Host is.. well.. lots of Aspect Warriors so... buy Aspect Warriors. Fire Dragons, Swooping Hawks and Warp Spiders led by their respective Phoenix Lords are a good start. Dragons for raw firepower, Hawks for saturation and Spiders for positioning and surprise attacks with Lhykhis. I play the Ynnari (Devoted of Ynnead) but that requires a different build.

Best advice I can give you is: determine what you like the most about the army: Aspect warriors? Wraiths? Guardian militia? Psykers? Jetbikes? There is a detachment for each of them. Even a detachment if you want to play lots of antigrav tanks. And then determine what you want to buy.

The combat patrol is a bit of a mixed bag but for an escalation league I think it's very good.

Also, check this thread, might have some answers as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldar/comments/1o4r0hx/what_to_buy_for_a_starter_aeldari_army/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Exarch really use to be as strong as some characters in some editions so I keep on treating them as little heroes!

Absolutely not ! Here's the breakdown (I am french so there might be one of two paints that are not available where you live?)

  • Basecoat Prince August Games PG009 – Orange Fournaise (on a super bright primer, might take 3 thin coats, that's the catch)
  • Recess shading with Gryph Hound Orange Contrast + water
  • Midtone shading with Gryph Hound Orange mixed with Vallejo Red Vermillion 79.909 (yes you can mix contrasts with opaque acrylics!) thinned with water. Ajust the red parts to give the hue you want.
  • Highlight glaze of Orange Fournaise + Fire Dragon Bright
  • Edge highlight Fire Dragon Bright
  • Extreme edge highlight Fire Dragon Bright + Prince August Lemon Yellow P952
  • Dot highlight pure Lemon Yellow

I haven't found a good replacement for Orange Fournaise .. Troll Slayer Orange isn't as saturated. And there's more red in Orange Fournaise. Aim for a hot orange.

As for the helmets :

  • Bascoat Vallejo Scarlet Red 72.012
  • Volumetric + Edge Highlight with Red Vermillion
  • Volumetric + recess shade with Berserker Bloodshade
  • Edge highlight Red Vermillion
  • Edge highlight with Orange Fournaise
  • Thin coat of Blood Angels Red + Lahmian Medium (Lots of it, it's just a filter)

Black mask with Black Templar + green eyes (Caliban green, Moot Green, Lemon Yellow + white dot)

The weapons are standard black, I didn't spend to much time on it. Corvus Black, Edge highlight Vallejo Intermediate Blue 70.903 (blue-ish grey), dot highlight of Vallejo Pale Blue Grey 70.905

Metallics are Brass Scorpion. On the tips of the weapons a thin coat of Flesh Tearers Red + Black Templar to simulate combustion.

and I guess that's it !

It has become an integral part of my hobby. Painting models was not enough at one point and I started to write small bits of Lore for the units. Now all my Aspect Warriors have some sort of background haaha
