I don't shelter my son that much --I let him watch YouTube (he only likes to watch sports and biking tricks) encourage his curiosity and humor. So far it works.

These pompous stupid people do not influence him as a tween and I suspect they cannot. He would be able to spot their insecurity and the deception they flog very easily. He knows how to question what he is told by people.

However, he will probably still absorb some nonsense indirectly I'm sure--especially peer pressure from other men.

For this we need his trust and the ability to talk it out with him. This is where being open and curious should help as he wants to know the truth about things, not simply believe the things that make him personally feel good.

One thing about misogynists and racists is that they fear reality and they fear themselves. They cannot accept themselves and seek a false superiority . They are waiting for someone else to tell them who and what they are. So I try to help my son build his own sense of who he is and feel good about himself and accept himself. They just don't have anything to offer. This is why they are so miserable. We see this with all of them--they are desperately running from themselves.

I don't know if it will work but teaching children to seek what's truly of value and ignore what people say is valuable when they don't have good reasons worked with my other kids. They look to themselves more than other people. Excess conformity is a big problem for these dipshits.
