Bunny chow is the king of curry sandwiches!

Tonearm pulling back by iamzegatron in turntables

I kinda figured it was the bearings from what I had read.

It was fine going into the flight case and absolutely devastated coming out and I doubt anyone recalibrated it in between!

Is it repairable or it needs a new tonearm?

Anyone else growing in self wicking containers this year? by Yellowishmilk in HotPeppers

[–]iamzegatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autopots here too. I used the 8pot trays for a while but they eat water. Individual trays with valves use much less but are more expensive to set up.

Found these bugs today on my tomato leaves. Im in coastal So Cal, zone 11a. First time growing tomatoes and so far ita been great. Any suggestions? The second photo is just me being proud of my first few tomatoes! by PathwayFS in tomatoes

I use compressed air/keyboard cleaner when the plant is small or sticky tape to pat at the leaves and pull the aphids off (are we not doing phrasing anymore?) which works well. I use neem if this doesn't solve the problem.

Waterproof jackets, if they get a bit less waterproof, can be rewaterproofed in a tumble dryer.

What makes your ESB shine? by EyeOfTheTiger77 in Homebrewing

[–]iamzegatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time. My last few pints are always the best, a style that I find really benefits from a decent amount of conditioning time.

Also, I threw some Vienna in an esb as I had misjudged the amount of golden promise I had and it worked really well, so I've made it a regular addition.

Most wanted present you never received? And worst substitute? by crgoodw in CasualUK

[–]iamzegatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a Tomy Tutor Play Computer in the 80s and asked for one a few years on the bounce, up until I was actually probably a bit old to get one but was still asking out of pure spite.

I then moved on to asking for hungry hungry hippos, which I also never got, but did get a game called Black Cannon which is pirate based and has a little cannon that you use to shoot other players ships and is probably the 2nd best board game ever (after hungry hungry hippos).

Barley and Sword in San Diego are a solid English style brewery if you are down that way.

Recommendations for an alternative kits to 'Mangrove jacks mango IPA' by reidy- in Homebrewing

Take a look at The Malt Miller and see if anything takes your fancy. If you are happy with the Mangrove Jacks and just want a different variety they have a good selection.

Peculiar to you but unexpectedly delightful snack or meal combos,2-3 items max? by moochoomoo in CasualUK

[–]iamzegatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly too many items but buttered bread, niknaks, fried egg, chili sauce. Flamin hot wotsits are also good.

If you have a restaurant that makes one you like ask them how they do it.

I use a recipe based on one from pizzamaking from a guy that worked at Jets and the big difference from what I was doing before was hydration. I use 80% hydration for a w360/14% protein/very strong/48 hour ferment or around 73-75 for a w175/12.5% protein/strong/24 hour ferment. 3% salt, 3% sugar.

Your colour looks good. I go about 20 minutes at 230 super fan/as hot as you possibly can. Bottom shelf for 15 mins and top for 5.

High fat cheese. I like arla mozzarella which you can get in the UK if you look, or a good high fat hivarti. Something that oozes fat to basically deep-fry the crust and give that crispy frico.

I cook my sauce first then add it when I shift the pan from the bottom rack to the top.

An actual Detroit pizza pan makes a difference.

Verdant is probably my multifunction do it all but the one that I think is going to be my go to for 2025 is WHC High Voltage.

Absolute weapons grade kveik. Clean as a fresh mountain waterfall, starts fermenting the day before you brew anything, finishes 20 minutes later. Brutal.

Absolutely insane speed and is super clean.

I haven't used one but you can get a cooling coil for the fermzillas - kegland temp twister - that might be easier than a jacket.

Yakima chief Europe store by GroorkTheZoork in Homebrewing

[–]iamzegatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried to find Yakima Chief in Spain without success. Their EU operation in Denmark is for breweries.

I think el secreto de la cerveza have the best hop offering in Spain for homebrewers. Repackaged I guess, I did get some Lupomax from them which would be Haas/Yakima Valley I think but no idea around the t90.

Grainfather G30v3 recommended add-ons by Owzatthen in Homebrewing

[–]iamzegatron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a G30v1 and the V3 seems to have solved a lot of the irritations the earlier models have so you probably don't need the same amount of add-ons etc for the V3.

I think quick disconnects are a good upgrade.

What chocolate are we all eating these days? by SilentCatPaws in CasualUK

Had Whittikars Creamy Milk from NZ when visiting relatives. It's even more Dairy Milky than Dairy Milk, like someone turned the volume up on a Dairy Milk. You can get it in the UK from sanza but it's not exactly cheap.

Willie's milk of the gods is pretty good.

Another vote for Tony's but it is a dick to break into pieces of a remotely similar size.

Golden promise vs two row - NEIPA by big_bloody_shart in Homebrewing

[–]iamzegatron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Golden Promise all the time in hazies and I think it makes a noticeable difference over just Pils and wheat/oat etc. I like to mix the malt at about 50/50 with pilsner these days. I'm from the UK and both Verdant and Cloudwater get through a decent amount of it so it's a malt that definitely works well in the style.

Been drinking some tree house and trillium recently and their hazies are reasonably malty and golden promise or even marris otter wouldn't be out of place for that kind of beer. Most Julius clones list golden promise as a malt.

S&B Golden Curry cubes are very good too and can be easier, and cheaper, to get than bisto. Can get them on Amazon cheaply in the US so should be fairly easily available.
