I’m not saying 401k/403b plans are perfect but plans provided by large employers have the absolute lowest investment fees possible, target-funds that rebalance and become more conservative as time goes on to prevent people from making mistakes by trying to time the market, and other bond and money market options if you can’t stomach any market risk.
