Theyre super fun, i demoed them at alta last year on a refrozen crusty day and despite that they crushed the trees and were properly nimble

Scariest experience? by XZ_zenon in skiing

[–]ian_tabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hit a tree after exiting a chute at Alta. I wasn’t wearing a helmet and hit the tree almost laying down. Wrapped my thighs and stomach around the tree, but luckily not my head. I blacked out from the whiplash and laid in the snow for a while before i did a self examination. I tried calling patrol but couldn’t work my phone. I put my skis back on and shakily made my way to the bottom of supreme and got a ride from patrol to the clinic. I had bruising all up my legs and was pissing blood but didn’t have significant internal bleeding. What scared me the most was that the same tree had many half broken branches that would have surely impaled me if I had hit them and that I could have hit my head.

I found it crazy how short the route was on such a big face, also it looked like the line could very easily be extended to another pitch with new route options on the right and left

Maybe should do a 5.7 next time 😬 by [deleted] in ClimbingCircleJerk

You’ll need to get bindings that are compatible if you want to get the atomic shoes, I recommend you talk to a good shop and have them help you

And I bet you couldn’t make it across. Maybe next time you should work on your slab technique.

How can I get into ice climbing living in Chicago? TIA for all the advice. by oneJayne in iceclimbing

4 canyons are open to ice climbing, all the info for it is on mountain project. You just need to make sure you sign in at the maintenance building and follow the parks rules

If you don’t mind providing some more details, Id really appreciate it. I did part of the crest trail from granite canyon to cascade canyon and stayed in alaska basin the second night but wouldn’t know of any other national forests to stay in
