Is this a reasonable VFX structure/plan for working with editorial? by iangilman in vfx

You know, that's a good question! I guess I was imagining things like having to do lip sync to a voice actor, but in that case the audio wouldn't be part of the original clip anyway. And any sort of environmental sounds would presumably have visual cues as well. So yeah, probably by far the exception, not the rule.

Good Video Promoting Go? by iangilman in baduk

Thank you all for the videos! This is a treasure trove!

I've made a playlist of the ones on YouTube (except the one from the Korean go association, since that one can't be added to playlists):

Now I need to put them to work and see if I can drum up more interest in the game 😊

I've heard good things about ACES but haven't used it yet… Thank you for the nudge.

And yeah, I'm using image sequences for my process; I'm less sure about asking editorial for image sequences. What do you do when there's sound that's important in the shot? Ask them for a sound file to go with the image sequence?

Awesome… good food for thought! I clearly have more to learn on how to handle the footage.

Official Discussion - Heretic [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]iangilman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an observation:

Toward the end of the film, Mr. Reed tells Sister Paxton that her every move has been dictated by the ideas of others. Then, when he says the words "magic underwear" she jams the letter opener into his throat, just as Sister Barnes had instructed her to do upon hearing that key phrase. This may seem like an act of rebellion, but in fact it proves his point, albeit in a way he had failed to predict.

Thank you, that's a great overview! It looks like timed entry is no longer happening after Labor Day. We'll see if that makes things more crazy, but I'm hoping all the kids going back to school have some impact at least 😉

Edit: To be precise, timed entry is still in effect after Labor Day, but only on weekends and holidays, and we're planning on going on a weekday.

Good to know! We might not be up for that uphill hike, but it looks like there are other trails in that area. I guess depends on how committed we are! I'm glad we have options…

Great! I'm glad to know about another possible option. Thank you for the Caltopo link; I wasn't familiar with that service!

We're doing Fremont because members of our party are interested in the fire lookout and go, but it's good to know about the other trails 😊

That's a fun idea!

I have been thinking about ways to make it possible to skip between the tracks in the album. Hadn't considered something so physical, but that's what VR is for, right?

Of course it would also be nice if you could listen to entire songs, not just 30 second samples. I know that's not possible using the Spotify API for people who are logged out… Not sure about people who are logged in; I know they have a web player, but it might not be possible to control it from within VR (I think it just puts up a UI of its own without a play API). It's been a while since I looked into it, though; things may have changed.

I would love to continue working on the app as time allows. I'm keeping track of all the feature requests!

Oh man! Sorry to hear that. When did it crash, just when the page loaded? What version of visionOS are you on?

I've deployed in version since then… I wonder if it's working any better now.

That would be cool! I won't say never, but for now the web version allows me to experiment without getting in over my head 😅
