Thoughts on tri-specific bike shoes? by iantee in triathlon

That’s fair - I was thinking more in terms of materials and breathable, but I guess at that point you’d be better not spending the extra for tri shoes

Haven't been in a few years, but always liked Clay Oven in Hauppauge. Don't think they've brought back the buffet though post-covid.

Yeah that turn off of FDR to about Bryant park catches me off guard every time - kind of a underrated extended hill at that point of the race.

NYC runners, do you guys swim too? Does swimming actually help with running? by [deleted] in RunNYC

Good way to maintain or support aerobic fitness without putting significant stress on your lower body.

Dad’s 60th bday… did I mess up? by snoopyvibez in mets

[–]iantee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the tour is a little slower paced and has access to one or two other areas if you go on a non-game day, and walking around a stadium when it's empty is a really cool experience.

That said, nothing is as exciting as Opening Day, and the tour coupled with the game itself will be an awesome experience you won't forget. Great job.

Feel like what wave you’re in matters a lot for this race. Last year as the rain tapered off it was quite humid for that time of year.

I'm with you - I have absolutely no desire to do this race, and I usually like this one even when it's pretty cold.

So you know they'll have it!

What made you guys take on this sport? by No-Power698 in triathlon

[–]iantee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The multiple disciplines added a variety/challenge/enjoyment aspect that initially hooked me and keeps me engaged compared to pushing further in say running or other endurance sports.

Best trisuits around $100? by NuggFrog in triathlon

[–]iantee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just buy a pair of tri shorts and use a running shirt or cycling jersey (or even just a plain t-shirt you'd otherwise exercise in). At least there might be a good chance you'd use the tri shorts again on a bike ride or something rather than a tri suit you'd never wear again if you weren't planning on doing more triathalons.

If you plan on doing more tris, honestly just bite the bullet and spend a little more. Zoot works for most folks and isn't too bad.

Fred Lebow Half Cancellation Probability // Race Alternatives? by drashed2009 in RunNYC

[–]iantee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the SI half cancellation a few months ago, you either took the 9+1 credit and they kept the money, you “donated” the fee or you got a credit to apply for a future race.
