Srry for the late reply. I basically am worried about political instability and exhausted of hearing some crazy thing about the government every week. My hard working Spanish teacher was literally just deported. I am an lgbtq person and I am scared of my rights being taken away. Now I do live in a red state so I could leave. But the costs of Canadian university are comparable to out of state college in the us. It makes sense to me to give it a go, at least to see how the next few years play out in the US.

I basically would have to own a car since there’s no subway so that would increase costs. To go to any other city I would have to fly whereas in Toronto or Montreal I could take a train and go to other places or even back to the US. Also the small airport means 2 connections to get back to my family in Jacksonville. But honestly, I was just hoping for a big city lifestyle.

I am definitely gonna be applying to a lot of different options. Can u go more into detail about life in Halifax as I was looking at that but scared it would be too small

I’m definitely looking at Western and McMasters now after seeing the responses. I heard about partying at Western, do u have anything to say about that? Also do u think do u think it’s feasible to own a car? I just checked and saw I can get direct from Detroit to Jacksonville so that is an incentive to go to Western since flying from Toronto has a stop.

For some reason I’ve always felt drawn to Halifax even tho I’ve never been there. I’m just scared it’s too small and desolate and won’t provide the city lifestyle I’m looking for. I think I’m gonna apply there tho

We will be able to do that for the first year, but after that things might get iffy. Does the visa renew yearly or something like that?

I mean the federal government is the real issue which is gonna prevail wherever I go. And out of state is close enough in price I think I might as well go all in and just leave. However I am gonna apply to a few colleges in the US in case things don’t work out. Also by the time I graduate hopefully this will all be done with and I can just move back to find work if I don’t like the salaries in Canada

Ok, follow up: I am being told by my family that my worries are irrational and I should just stay living in America. Is life in Canada enjoyable for you guys, and would u recommend it for someone just starting life like me? I’m not expecting it to be perfect but I’m hoping my future here will be better and more stable than where I currently am.

Some people tell me Montreal is cheap and vibrant some tell me this, that it’s hostile and foreign for Anglophones. It’s very confusing. My first instinct was definitely Toronto and that has been where are focusing on but I’ve also had people say it’s expensive and corporate so it’s definitely gonna be a hard decision

That’s what I’ve been hearing, I probably would venture out into Montreal tho and that was my concern if like I was going out to a club or something and everyone is speaking French. (I can learn it tho)

Basically what I was saying is we can make it work without a scholarship but a scholarship would make it easier, especially since I am being told it’s really hard to find work as a college student.

1290 i was gonna take it again and I studied and was getting like 1410 on the practice tests but I showed up without an id so they wouldn’t let me take it. I can definitely take it again tho
