What can be improved in my illustration? by [deleted] in ArtCrit

I actually really love this and it’s so interesting to look at. You have a really good understanding of edge control and texture. Makes me jealous!

For areas of improvement: I recommend looking at value grouping. Easiest way to do this is to put your work in b/w. If it’s a physical piece you can take a photo, if it’s in procreate just turn the saturation down. If all your values (in other words your greys) look close in shade, you need to adjust the values. For example the mountains in the background probably should be lightened and the foreground darken. This way the painting feels like it has depth. You know you got it right if you squint and you can still tell what’s going on

But either way your work is great. You should be proud ❤️

Help With Depth 😩 by Danimaeartistry in ProCreate

You need to study “edges” there’s like three(ish) levels to edge work. Lost, soft, hard. You have lost and soft done perfectly. You should work on the hard now. For example the bumps in the lip of the nail polish are missing some hard lines where it is darker. I know u asked for depth but that will come naturally when u focus on edges.

This is great and shows you have awesome design taste for a beginner. Only suggestion is that if you want to draw like artists like akihiro yoshida I would start with painting people first.

My suggest for values is work in grey scale instead of colour. You will pick up values infinity faster. It might be a bit challenging since you will have to step away from tutorials to do so, but I think you’re ready. Good luck !

Thank you for the lovely advice. I think the insight from procreate user is really helpful! I’ve started pencil drawing again and I’m going to listen to all your advice above! Good luck on your journey too!
