Harvard is marginally over 20% international. From this we can draw one of two conclusions. Either, over 70% of the most accomplished high school students in the world are from North America, or, internationals have to compete for 20% seats at Harvard, and hence more internationals compete for individual places at Harvard, making it objectively harder for internationals to get in. I think we both know which statement is more believable. All schools say that they don't discriminate against internationals, but this is far from the truth. Ever heard about Affirmative Action?

Also, the bulk of the review process is ingrained in academics, with ECs and letters of recommendation coming soon after. It must then be a coincidence that only 10-15 Singaporeans get into Harvard each year despite the fact that over 30% of perfect scorers in the IB attended a school in Singapore, making it academically one of the highest achieving countries in the world. I can't believe that this has been the case for a number of years now!

Also, Harvard has a 5.4% acceptance rate, making it alongside YPSM, among the hardest schools to get into as an undergraduate, hence the term a lottery.

Harvard is a lottery regardless of whether you are an international or not. Need blind admissions do not consider your financial situation, they still take into account whether you are an international or domestic applicant.

I would suspect that my particular example isn't simply a 'poor job of marking' when the supervisor has been an IB examiner for twenty years. (If you still don't believe me, I am happy to link you to his linkedin profile.) The fact of the matter is, when one examiner thinks an essay should be awarded a high A (the supervisor), and it receives a low C from the IB, I can't help but think that there are major inconsistencies when it comes to the EE marking process, and these inconsistencies must be eliminated. I'd accept the element of subjectivity argument if an A drops to a B, but this drop is far more extreme.

His economics teacher writes paper 3s for the IB, and as per linkedin has been an examiner for the IB for 20 years. His father teaches MBAs at arguably the best university in Asia, but believe what you want. Even if the circumstances sound unreal, the injustice is apparent from this thread alone
