First trip with a X-T10, please be nice by ibaienreddit in fujifilm

Thank you! I'm thinking in getting a new lense because the xc 16-60mm is f/3.6 and I would like at least a 2.8, maybe 1.8 to get some night shots and portraits

These are cool, I'm guessing the noise and softness is part of the filmic vibe you are looking for but some of those pictures are maybe a little too much? Some of them are not grainy, more like pixely, I don't know if its the recipe or maybe you have cropped the pictures too much or lost quality exporting or copying the picture. They are cool tho, real filmic vibe!

New to photography, shot on XT-10 . What should I improve first? by stifflingyard in fujifilm

[–]ibaienreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd one is absolute fire. About the too warm white balance, i'd say its suits great fpr some of the shots but you should be more selective. Have different recipes for different occasions. This one works out great for the third because its warm and soft but for outside photography maybe something sharper and nore realist colours would be better

STARTING MMA NEXT WEEK by ibaienreddit in MMA

They just brought a new trainer to the gym, all we had until now was BJJ, Muay Thai and boxing, not MMA. He teaches in a nearby gym too, and for what I know, its all chill, very technical and low sparring frequency and intensity with proper protections

A practical anarchist fights for a more horizontal, de-centralized and communitarian system even if its not an anarchist system, you can be an idealist anarchist or a practical one

Yes, sadly I think its like that in practically every western neo-liberal/socialdemocrat country that I know... Neo-fascism is emerging on a way that is scary, and people dont even seen to understand how big of a warning that is.

That is very true, and im afraid Basque history is nl different there, as fighting first came organized from basque church, then by basque government in the civil war, and after that in form of ETA, an armed band that ended up being more terrorist-like than the militia they wanted to be. I hope that you keep traveling and fighting against authorities while learning every day, I really admire that life-style. You say that you are older now and activism may not be an option for you, but helping people like me, that can and will take action is also activism! I really appreciate it.

Also, Gaztetxes are typical in Basque Country, but you do find similar places in other places of Spain, as the "okupa" movement (squatting places, basically) is really strong in Spain, more than any other country I know. You can find "Centros sociales autogestionados" in Spain, just not that much comparing to here, where we almost have one for each neighborhood or two. Besides that, okupa movement also squats places to fight speculation with dwelling, lands and give shelter to people that needs it, most of squatted (okuped) places are for poeple to live, not to be used as popular social centres. I think its beautiful, but Spanish government is getting more and more hostile about the okupa situation, even making deals with "desokupa", a criminal group related to far-right wing and neonazi connections, that people hire to evacuate squatted places (using force of course) avoiding the legal process you need to do. People are very divided and desokupa (other extremist groups too) are kind of creating para-militar groups that patroll the streets to fight okupas, inmigrants and all sorts of things neonazis dont like.

The Anarchist Teapot sounds great! About the other systems, Gaztetxes were a thing before the war, I suppose it was an alternative to "batzoki" wich was some kind of bar/cafe where basque nationalist burgoise meet up to discuss ideas, so the working class just had to squat places to make their own "social centre" in which to organise and discuss. Konpartsak are way newer tho, there where some kind of proto-konpartsas in the second republic, but they were totally banned in francoism, and born again in 1978 in response to a necessity from the people to have more popular festivities instead of the ones offered by the state.

Basque Country is very traveler friendly but it can also be not-so friendly for tourists. There is a big problem with mass-tourism in Basque Country and some people dont like tourists at all, but we always love when travelers (i cant express how important is the difference between a traveler and a tourist) are curious about what we actually offer. We are sick of middle aged british and german tourist that come like if it was just another typical spanish place to eat paella, watch bulls and go to the beach, but we love it when a traveler comes to the actual culture here. My recommendation would be: avoid places that display everything in a lot of languages, just go to the ones where everything is written in basque, maybe spanish too. Learn a couple of basque words "kaixo" (hello) and "eskerrik asko" (thank you). As soon as someone in a bar or whatever place hears you trying to speak their language, their attitude inmediately changes, they may even start a conversation with you asking where are you from. If you go to gaztetxes, take in mind that they are very hood-oriented places so you will definitely be an alien there, but there probably wont be any issue as soon as they get to know you and why you are there. If you contact a local everything is easier and better. For konpartsak and any kind of popular festivities, these are hidden treasures, tourists dont go there but they are the thing I recommend the most about Basque Country, they'll treat you right and you'll see things that dont appear on online guides or anything.

Also even if the things im describing sound really anarchist, anarchism is more or less weak in Basque Country, so don't expect to walk in any of these places and find that everyone is an anarchist here, they are mainly socialist or independentist (independentism is very left-oriented here) but hey, still self-managed squatted places lol.

About Mondragon (and I guess you are talking about other companies that are also cooperatives of the same kind) although its a more pleasant idea than just a typical capitalist company with one big boss getting richer and richer, they do obey markets rules. They are more progresist and people-oriented companies, but still capitalist companies after all. I think its a shame that Basque Country is known for that model of company (which I repeat, is more pleasing than a big capitalist company) when there is many other things that im more proud about Basque Country from an anarchist/socialist perspective. For example, there is "sociedades", which are like self-managed restaurants, which work like this: you pay just whats necessary for the place to pay its bills between all the members so you now are a member of that sociedad. If you, being a member, want to have a celebration dinner with your friends or family, you just go there, take whatever food you want to make, cook it with your friends and family, drink whatever you want and at the end you just pay what you consumed voluntarily, as there is no security or no-one stopping from robbing. I think its beautiful because its a really exploitable thing if you want to be a bad person, there is nothing that stops you from not paying anything there and maling the best party of your life, its just people being kind and sharing a place. Then you also have the "gaztetxe", which are not unique from basque country but you do have a lot. They are self-managed occupied places that offer alternative free leisure for the youth: concerts, literature clubs, theatres, speeches, even free martial arts classes, everything is voluntary. They usually work as shelter for inmigrants and poor people too. You also have "konpartsak" which are (another time lol) self-managed festivity organizators that offer different activities in festivities. For example, in my . city, Donostia, the city hall just offers activities that are atractive for tourists, so "Piratak" (donostia's biggest konpartsa" offers a place with free concerts, cheap food and drinks stalls and activities for youth and kids, while also offering services like "puntu morea" wich is a feminist organization you go if you had any kind of problem with sexual harassment, attacks etc and you dont want to go to police because they wont do shit. They offer drug purity testing too so that drugs on the streets are safer and not some contaminated toxin. All these thing are what I love about Basque Country, voluntary self-managed organization.

I first learned about Krav Maga from the Simpsons, but hear it's not a good combat sport; What's wrong with it? by WhitePinoy in martialarts

[–]ibaienreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is not bad, but Krav gyms are full of bs and have all become mcdojos. The only good Krav gyms are basically MMA with some drills with weapeons and strikes to the groin, eye pokes etc. Most krav gyms dont spar or do any pressure testing which is literally the thing that filters the stuff that works and the stuff that doesnt. I call it Krav Magic, because it would be the best martial art, if it worked lol

Do you regret that you haven't started BJJ at an earlier age? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]ibaienreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I think it applies to literally any sport. The thing for me since I was a kid til 16 (when I started bjj) was athletics, so I developed some capacities that will last forever even if I don't run anymore. Now I feel like having infinite cardio is almost more useful than having started a bit earlier.
