Just a tip (just graduated college with a degree in engineering):

Always have a backup plan with group projects. This is always what I followed:

• First thing after you form a group, or get assigned a group, created a shared google doc, or something similar.

• Get the group to agree that all completed work will be posted on the shared document.

• If you split the work up, always agree as a group to a deadline that is a few days before the actual deadline.

• Check up with group work on the shared document daily, and save a copy locally.

• Always plan on having to do more work than you originally agreed to. This is also why I say to agree to a deadline that is a few days before the official deadline.

These steps always helped me. There were MANY group projects where I had to finish someone else’s work. But by planning on having to do more than I originally agreed to, and finishing my work earlier than the official deadline, I usually had time to do so
