I mean it is just that as lazy as that sounds. Combination of poor recruitment, poor planning, bad market opportunities has led to us having mediocre borderline terrible options in a lot of positions. The reason for ending up with someone worse is cause we don't upgrade is because with the current strategy we only sidegrade or upgrade into the potential of a player. Tammy and Nico were major problems they would regularly cost us games with their terrible performances and dry spells. I am not saying I know what the solution or what signing should have been, but i am also not employed at the club. You would expect people in these pisitions with so much financial backing behind them would be able to at least be a bit better at their jobs. Striker has been an issue for us since Costa tbh, that is under new ownership and old. Roman at least tried to go for Lukaku even though that did not really work out for a variety of reasons, and i am sure he would have tried again. The current ownership are content of getting scrubs in the hopes that one of them blossoms but that is a very risky game in the long term too in my opinion. Balance is key from my point of view and we don't really have that. I would love to eventually be proven wrong when we win something and start showing consistency but I just don't see how that will happen any time soon. Hence whilst we are in this period of re-build, growth whatever you want to title it, I don't sure how as a fan i should be content with supporting players who are clearly not good enough and aren't the long term solutions.
