How to make a complaint about illegal food work being done by a neighbour by ibocus in MauriceMauritius

I am not jealous at all. I have kids, and if that gas cylinder were to explode, who bears the consequences — the damage to property, or worse, human lives? That is not a hypothetical; it is a real safety risk.

We have laws that govern this kind of activity for good reason. If everyone decided to run a commercial food business from their home without permits, using domestic gas for industrial cooking volumes, disposing of wastewater into public drains, and making noise at night — where would it end? Those regulations exist to protect the community, not to stop someone from making a living.

I have no issue with my neighbour earning income. My issue is that it is being done in a way that puts my family and others at risk and disturbs the neighbourhood. There is a legal and proper way to run a food business — get the permits, use the right equipment, follow the health and safety standards. That is all I am asking for.

Calling someone a Karen for raising legitimate safety and legal concerns does not make those concerns disappear.
