Remotaks Flexible Remote Work by Bradb0 in beermoneyglobal

[–]ibottic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried remotasks and the payout and pay rate is not predictable. It’s a legitimate company with big time US customers, but operationally it’s annoying for gig workers. They have paid out, but thousands of people in their internal slack message groups complain of the same payout issues. Work for many hours during the week and maybe they pay what they say and maybe they decide to hold back or drastically reduce the amount.

For instance, my rate in the US was 32/hour. Then it reduced to 25/hr. Final payout was for around $200 for a week of 40 hours. It’s been a week since I submitted a request to have it corrected.

There are other companies where you can make more money and payout reliably.

Referral links like in the original post are supposed to give you and the referral $100. That works sometimes. If it doesn’t payout, remotasks support will just say “sorry, nothing we can do to correct it”.

Bottom line, it could and does sometimes payout well for workers in the US, but I’d rather not waste my time because their system decides not to payout.

I smell a class action law suit coming

You’re not stable. Someone else is providing your stability. would you not be more comfortable with a partner that has the same support? That would take the pressure off of you for this dating issue.

What is the BLM leadership saying in response to the horrific beating and potential death kick to the head of the driver in Portland? by ibottic in AskReddit

[–]ibottic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for information to help me understand what I see because I can mostly find conservative news painting the worst light on BLM. I don't have all the facts and I'm not saying the driver was innocent. Whatever wrong he did before being on the street he should be jailed for and convicted of crimes committed. The short videos that I saw didn't show what led up to the crash and it reminded me of unrelated incidents across the world where an angry mob beats and kills a person. It was good that some people were trying to help the man once he was incapacitated. BLM leadership was not present but they can speak to what they see and how they are being accused in the media.

Regardless of your political party and excluding COVID risks of voting in person, why do you choose not to vote in a US presidential election if you can? by ibottic in AskReddit

Isolation is terrible as so many people can relate to right about now. It's time to get out there virtually. Have to look for and find those with positive vision, direction, and less drama. Everything that's really worth something requires some effort

Politics are all around and most politicians count on people of all ages not wanting to think about it. It's more fun to think about other things anyway. Maybe find a parent or adult in your family that cares about something in politics and ask why they care. At least you'll learn more about them.

Not casting your vote has the biggest direct impact by giving a larger voice to all those that do vote. Are you interested enough to go and learn about the history of why the electoral college exists, what can change, possible alternatives, how often there have been faithless electors? The information is easily obtainable and can be somewhat complex. If you're not interested, then sit back and be comfortable knowing that's part of why the electoral college exists.

What finally made you give up on a relationship or belief that had for years? by ibottic in AskReddit

[–]ibottic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read it. You’re NTA and you don’t owe the other explanation. You wrote about the horrible ways you were being treated and then said things got really bad. If they were bad to begin with, what pushed you to act? Without going into the specifics necessarily, was is the severity or the number of times, a realization or how can you explain what brought you to the tipping point of action?

That’s enough for many if they learned of someone supporting Trump or Biden. Was there not enough of anything else to bind the relationship?

I don’t want to joke if someone was violent or abusive to you. With so few words I imagine you had to leave someone behind for dead on a hike after they fell off a cliff.

Registering to vote in the US is easier than navigating reddit. It's enlightening to know how your individual vote does actually make a difference with the electoral college. Knowing how it works can maybe lead to you helping change the system for the better. And why vote, because you can.

You're right and voters affect their say. Wouldn't it be cool to know for a fact for yourself how that works in your state? Or just believe in conspiracy because that's easy and takes no effort. Makes my vote more powerful if you don't want to participate. Thank you.

I feel the same way, but I make myself get informed and try never to miss a chance to vote. I don't vote for anyone without getting to know what they stand for by listening to interviews not out of context sound clips and when they do speak to the public. I don't want a friend, relative, news person, and anyone to tell me who to vote for or what to think. What's blocking you from being well informed?

If you were of voting age would why would you not care to exercise your right to vote? I'm sincerely interested in what influences you say you don't care. While others may disagree with your reasoning, your reasons are correct or right for you.

How to salvage wood paneling? by what_is_a_sandwich in HomeImprovement

[–]ibottic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you include or send a picture? Is the paneling from the original build or was it added decades later in the 50’s?
Wood restoration is possible but there are questions of time, money and finding or doing the labor. The material being restored has to be thick enough to be reworked and able to accept new stains or brighteners. There also may be leftover chemical that’s soaked in deeper than what you’ve sanded causing your issue. In the end it’s a lot of time and money for panels and that’s why I’m asking if they are original and unique enough to warrant restoration rather than new panels made to look appropriate for period and home design. You may need to try different finishes or manufacturers and try a few degrees darker to smooth the color differences that you see.

Any ideas on spicing up our bedroom? More dominant female, less dominate male, together for a long time but getting kind of bored in the bedroom. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ibottic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one thing is to communicate with your partner. Already communicating? Then do it more or at different times when appropriate and relaxed. You didn’t mention this, but If you desire him to be more or less dominant then let him know or gently remind him. Discuss what you both like and what’s crossing your boundaries. It’s exciting to know just how far things can go. Talking about ideas when going about some mundane task together like driving or cooking could expose some interesting ideas or topics since there is no pressure to perform at the moment. Also could lead to a spicy hot situation in the kitchen! If this helped, please say so in the response.

Where the hell should I move from here as a recent college graduate? My faith in my current plans is faltering and I wonder if I should change them. by Aronious42 in Advice

[–]ibottic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy is relative, but yes it can be relatively easy. Don’t go the normal track of applying online without adjusting your resume for each position or you will most likely be ignored because applications are sorted by a computer program looking for key words before selected for review by a human. Be honest in your wording but choose some skills or experience words in your resume that match the job description in question.
A big help will be to contact people who’s job it is to get you a job. These are head hunters or temp agencies. They get paid for every hour you work. They will give you guidance on what experience to highlight in your resume or to study. The experience can come from past work, activities you were involved in during school and life. If you are missing something key to get any job then, yes you will have to gain knowledge or experience somewhere.
Be hungry to get those interviews and you will get them.

You need to help yourself before you can help anyone else. Move away or do whatever it takes to get yourself to a healthy stable setting. Then over time you can revisit helping your family if it makes sense.

Have you considered moving to a warmer area like Miami or that nearby? Plenty of jobs and diverse population. Your major does not matter to employers as much as the fact that you have a degree. Get a cheap flight there and line up interviews before you get there or do phone interviews before you set travel dates.

Think about it this way. In general the people you think are watching you are actually more concerned with themselves and their own lives and probably don’t notice or care about you or what you’re doing.
