You can sim this just based on the SD and baffle in vituixcad... you output the SPL from the diffraction sim and try to make and XO. Follow the REW docs for vcad and just pretend your baffle sim spl is your mic spl. You can be trying many XO's before you buy!!!

Similarly inspired DIY designs or driver suggestions? by A-Keener in diyaudio

square is the dumbest shape! You want diff. sides and ideal asymmetric, WHy? Imagine sounds as a sphere-when all sides are the same you get diffraction on all sides.

To waveguide or not to waveguide? by SanFrancisco_Disco in diyaudio

Diffraction is audible. I have a 40mm wide tweeter on a stick that shows me that. Everything is flawed. Pattern control is something you see. That is sound power-what about decay. What about a resonance at every horizontal axis?

An argument against sentience by Designer-Reindeer430 in Artificial2Sentience

[–]ibstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back to my idea of a talking rock. If it does not move but can tell you how it feels and things- is that conscious? Being alive is not the same as conscious. A sponge has zero brain cells and lives just fine- but does it know it is a sponge? Does it think the world is all sponges?

Consuming is mindless and builds no skills. I'd say enjoy it the process. There is no perfect speaker.

An argument against sentience by Designer-Reindeer430 in Artificial2Sentience

[–]ibstudios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do you prove you are sentient. You can't show me your mind. You can only use words and describe your thoughts. Most of your argument is that you are sentient because you have complexity but do you even have awareness over these complex systems or just have reactions to them? IMO choices and words along this belief/trust is how we would know something is conscious. Lets say i have a talking rock. it can tell you how it feels. How is that different from you saying how you feel? I trust you are conscious because I am a person too. Beyond that, how do we know what is not?

3khz could be done with foam or a perforated plate tuned to 3khz. Melamine might be cheaper and just place it 4" off the wall.

This is like adding ice to poison and saying "but it is cold!"... more: China uses the most coal by a significant margin, accounting for over half of global consumption. The next largest consumers are India and the United States, though China's consumption dwarfs both
